[WIP] Sequenced looping teaser (a la ALK2)
Hey guys, just wanted to share something I made today. I've been pretty frustrated with the lack of features with Zenaud.io ALK2 so I decided to hunker down and try to recreate a similar experience, Reaper style! Here's a little video of what I've made:
It's quite buggy at the moment but I'd love to share it with the community when it's a bit more ready. |

Good start, thanks for sharing, but why are you recording same guitar into 3 tracks if it is anyway exactly same recording?

Oh since each track records and loops a different segment, that just makes sure there's an item there for the script to splice up. I was trying to figure out how to get it to only selectively record, but it seems you can't arm/unarm tracks via script while the song is playing. Any ideas how this could be done? Is there some way to make sure the recording only gets recorded in that space?

Action markers maybe? Best would be probably having a custom .lua which checks certain items for certain criteria like item color maybe, then depending on that selecting that track, thus recording there. The idea would be automatic track selection based on item colors, I guess this trick should/could work. And maybe if necessary above mentioned action markers, but probably they are not necessary then any more.
Just make sure 'Automatic-record arm when track selected'. |

Using playtime or super8 and automating them for audio recordings and using pooled midi items for recording midi will give you a better and easier approach for ALK2 workflow.

No but I can explain here. When you put pooled-midi items into arrangement window in several places and record into one of them, recording will be transfered to all pooled-midi items. You can use looped-midi item too, if you record into the first one, recording will be transfered to all other looped items. This is similar to ALK2 workflow.

Yes, but I would like to see how you do this "recording".

There are now take markers, did you see them? Not sure if they include also take action markers, if yes, this would be your solution, was also mentioned above I guess, or was it another thread?

I'm also doing something similar, check it in my thread:
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=235592 The key is to make defer functions, then you can create your own "Action Marker" system, for triggering with anything you want. |
