in a new Reaper ...?I will be recording acoustic and electric guitar and good synth sounds if I can find some and learn about how to record with them.

There are tons of places to get free plugins, try www.vst4free.com for a starter and sift your way through them.

Plugins are like socks, the ones that give you a nice fluffy feeling of warmth may make others itch with reckless abandon.

There is a chorusing (32bit) VST I found there, Chorus CH-2 - it will crash Reaper every-time. Pity because it had a nice sound if you played with it enough.

Most of the plugins I use are Reaper included or free VST's from various places. As most are just .dll files (no installers), it is pretty easy to copy the dll to your VST plugins folder, try then out and then banish them to the cutting room floor if you don't like them.

If you want, send me a PM and I can upload what I have in a 7z to Mega or the likes for you to download.

Hello 95x and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. Make sure that you:

It would be worth getting a digital or printed copy of Computer Music. THen you can download a wide range in splug-ins to try out. Many Computer Music back issues are available to buy as digital magazines through Apple Newsstand for viewing on iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch; Google Newsstand for android devices; and also available on Zinio.com.
