How to deal with several Automations items.
Hi there,
I try to find answers in the userguide but I don't find...
Its a bit difficult for me (who come from Protools world) to inderstand the concept of automation items...
Is it possible to have only one items/curve for each parameters instead of having the opportunity to record several items?
For now, if I record a curve in touch mode and I would like to rewite on it, it propose me a second item. And when I press play, it don't play both but only the last one...
And if I try ten times to have a correct value, then I will have to manage ten item and it could be easily messy...
Any Idea?
Many thanks.

* Make sure that the automation item(s) that you want to write into are selected, otherwise REAPER will write into the underlying envelope, or create new AIs
* DISable "Option: Always create new automation items when writing automation".
There are several other options in the Actions list that you can tweak, depending on how exactly would like to record. (Search for something like "opt autom item" in the actions list.)

Yes, thank you for your advice but I've already watch all the video about automations and there is nothing about disable layering automation items...
the fact is when I record Fx automation for exemple in touch mode, I create new automations items for each parameter.
But when I rewrite them, it create second automations items who was combine to the first one.
And I don't want them to be combined.
I would prefere them to be rewrite...
And when I use write mode for that, it rewrite all parameter and not only the one I've touched...
I think that if I succed to disable layering automation item it could work but i don't find the way to do it...

The optimal settings may depend on what exactly you are trying to do. For example, are you trying to re-record into multiple AIs, spaced apart on the same track? Or are you recording into an envelope that doesn't contain any AIs in the time/loop selection? Do you want REAPER to create one new AI to fill the entire time selection when you record for the first time, and then re-record into that same AI, during each loop?
Play around with the following options. Once you get the hang of them, it is easy to adjust to any situation:
* Option: Always create new automation item when writing automation
* Option: Trim contents behind items when editing or writing automation
* Remember that when an AI is selected, REAPER will try to write into that AI; otherwise REAPER will create a new AI or write into the underlying envelope

How can "Option: Always create new automation item when writing automation" be accessed except via action list?

They are named differently in the action list and in the options.
