Default Rendered mix tempo fast?

Hello!

Help me out here please, as this is making my eyes sweat.

I export some rough mixes at 48/24 (same as project) to send to a collaborator.

He imports them into Reaper and says they are now slightly fast (say 105bpm instead of 95bpm).

I can't work out what has happened. My renders line up perfectly in the original projects (as you would expect).

What do you reckon has happened?

i don't think the sample rate is likely to be the issue if you are both using Reaper (due to it's resampling capabilities) unless there's been some sort of hardware mix up, resulting in an incorrect file header or something.
I assume you have checked that you are both using the same project tempo and that the files are set to a playrate of 1.0, and also the master playrate?

Would project tempo make any difference? I thought importing a Wav is importing a wav; I didn't think there was any processing done ref tempo, unless you choose to do that?

I dunno.

I sent over mini projects instead and those worked as expected.

The chap is not somebody I've worked with before, so I don't want to start grilling him about his Reaper settings!

I thought maybe there was a common 'schoolboy error' type thing that might bring about this behaviour.

The difference between the correct and incorrect speed (about 10%) does seem to correlate with the difference between 44 and 48khz though...

That's very kind thanks! I don't think I'll pursue this further unless it happens again. Hopefully it never will!
