Default disable scrub

is it possible? is there some way to make it so that when i click and drag the playback cursor
a) no (loud, obnoxious) sound is produced
b) it just moves around with my mouse as a drag it, at the speed my mouse moves, instead of veeeeeeerrrry slowwwwwly

and yes i know i could just click where i want it to go, but i like to drag things...

Well yes, if you click on the top of the edit cursor
that is exactly what's happening.

But in case you are looking for a different behavior
on other areas and mouse/key combinations, go to
Preferences > Mouse Modifiers, and adjust the behavior
as you wish.

Edit: Sorry, I just noticed this is not the default
(changed it a long time ago so I got used to it)

To get the above behavior, set the Mouse Modifier
for Edit Cursor Handle to No Action:

THANK YOU
you're amazing you're fantastic, and you're my hero

the scrubbing was driving me NUTS and it boggles me why it would be default behavior. i can't imagine how hearing backwards audio helps anyone with anything, and especially when it always seems much louder than what you hear on playback and is completely obnoxious. to me it's pure insanity but then i think i myself may be bordering on that realm, so to each his own. it also seems crazy that to disable it you should have to go to such lengths. it should be an easy to find option. in fact there is a whole entire section about scrubbing on the 'playback' page of options, but nowhere in there is a way to just turn it OFF, which again seems absurd to me. i am loving reaper in actual use more and more (still fairly new, came from cubase) but it seems like once you finally manage to get it working how you want, you better BACK UP your config file in as many separate, safe places as possible, because if you ever have to re-config it, it will take forever to find the super hidden not very well organized settings.

but again
YOU ARE MY HERO (for the next half hour or so)

Some of us still use scrubbing.

We like it, it reminds us of the old days

haha, that's kind of what i figured.
i've seen people talking about it a lot, so i knew people did use it, even if i can't fully understand why. so i guess my only issue is that the option to turn it off should be easier to find.

Default Same problem

Hey guys. I'm having the same issue. Can't turn scrub off. I went into mouse modifiers and set default action to no action. Additionally I set all actions in that same window to now action. My laptop trackpad still scrubs when I do a circular motion with 2 fingers. This posses a problem because I run a live show on this. And if I have to navigate during playback and do that motion accidentally it will mess up the entire show. I've done this before on previous versions and it worked. Right now it doesn't. I'm on os 10.9 Mavericks.
