Default Missing metadata on .wav

Hi all
when I render a song, if I set some field (title, artist etc) in Project Render Metadata for scheme ID3 (MP3) I can find them on the resulting .MP3, but if I set the same data on INFO (WAV) scheme these data are not written (see attach): where I'm wrong?

Many thanks in advance

Ciao

Can you attach or link to the actual rendered .wav file? I think it's likely that the metadata is embedded, but whatever application that is a screenshot of (windows explorer?) does not recognize/support INFO metadata.

Create a short wav-file(1 second or so) with the embed-metadata-checkbox enabled. After that, put the resulting file into a zip-archive, as zip is accepted by the forum.

This short file should be enough to show the problem.

Actually, no need. I can confirm that Windows explorer file properties don't display INFO, or in fact any kind of .wav metadata as far as I can tell.

So I don't think this is a REAPER issue, I think it's just something that Windows doesn't support.

Accctually, windows explorer can recognize INFO metadata, but only if it is the last chunk of data in the file. Generally metadata is placed at the start of a file so that programs that scan for it don't have to read the entire file. We'll think about whether we should make an exception for INFO metadata.

well, I think it would be useful to have this data in case you have to send the file to publish it

thx

A step further:
in iTunes the WAV version has only the title, while the MP3 is complete (I also added the cover)

another step further:

I've take .MP3 from Reaper and transformed it from .MP3 to .WAV (with NCH Switch Plus), and now there are the infos (see attach)

This is a limitation in Windows, not in REAPER. Apparently for legacy reasons, Windows Explorer will only recognize wav INFO metadata that is at the very end of the media file, although it's standard for most metadata to be embedded at the start of the media file. Every other application that supports INFO metadata will recognize it anywhere in the media file.

The latest development build of REAPER embeds INFO metadata at the end of the .wav file, so it should be recognized by Windows Explorer.

As said it's in the latest development build, not yet in the official release.

in a previous post on this thread:

"I've take .MP3 from Reaper and transformed it from .MP3 to .WAV (with NCH Switch Plus), and now there are the infos (see attach)"

Win Explorer recognize .VAW metadata, so it seems a limitation in Reaper.

This fix is in the current development builds of REAPER (and has been for months), but not yet in the released version.
