Default Please help me with setting up a private NINJAM server

Ok I already posted this in the other forums but I think I am more likely to get an answer here... I for the life of me can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

I have download the ninjam server files and gone through the process of opening up the correct ports on my router and checked to make sure the port is open using the portchecker utility. I run the server using the command line to open the .cfg file and that all goes fine.

But no matter what I do I cannot connect to the server from either the computer that is hosting the server or other computers on the same network or on the internet.

What am I doing wrong?

I have tried typing a bunch of different things in the "connect to host" dialog box. I type my public IP and it doesn't work. I try publicIPortnumber and it still doesn't work. I try leaving the username dialogbox empty and it doesn't work. I try udername: administrator and the password that is in the .cfg file and it doesn't work. I try the default user and password setting from the .cfg file which is "myuser" and "maypass" and it doesn't work.

I don't know what else to try. I am on Windows 10 and am using NINJAM inside Reaper.

Here is the content of my .cfg file in case I have missed something.

# only one port line allowed (last one will be used)
# these are comments
Port 2049

# these two require a full restart to update:

# write PID file (non-windows version only)
# PIDFile ninjamserver.pid

# LogFile ninjamserver.log

# set keep-alive interval in seconds. should probably not bother
# specifying this, the default is 3, which is adequate.

# voting system:
# SetVotingThreshold 50 # sets threshold to 50%. can be 1-100%, or >100 to disable
# SetVotingVoteTimeout 60 # sets timeout before votes are reset, in seconds

Please help.

Ok since making the last post, I have managed to connect my computer that is hosting the server to connect to the server. It turned out I was trying to use my public IP address to connect when I should have used the local IP address. Now I just have to try and see why the other computer that wasn't on the local network couldn't join over the internet.

Can someone explain what numbers they are putting in the connect to host dialog box? Because some of the videos are contradictory and even the local IP thing wasn't mentioned in any of the videos I watched.
