Default Why this annoying x86 s*** in 2023 ?

Why reaper now opens with an annoying reaper_host_x86_64 app behind it ? What does it mean ? I'm running reaper in a x86 mode with a wrapper like it's 20 years ago and operation systems just did 64bits now ? I just don't get it. What's the problem with m1 chips honestly? seems like every developer are struggling to support it.

You're running the ARM build of REAPER but loading x86_64 (Intel) plugins bridged. You'll need to either download ARM versions of the plugins you are using (best option), or run the Intel version of REAPER in Rosetta (next best), or continue as you're doing with bridged plugins (will still work but the least best option).

(edited to be clear about x86_64)

Hearing digital clicks and pops and plugins taking time to open, as I if I did a downgrade instead of buying one the fastest computers available on the market.

I didn't even know I still got x86 something in my computer. Last time I installed a plugin with an x86 bridge I think was like 15 years ago ? Intel was already 64 bit, and that's like 20 years ago, what I'm missing here ?

x86_64 is 64-bit. You are running Intel plugins on an M1 ARM machine. Everything is 64 bit, the issue is the mismatching architecture. You will have better performance if the architecture matches, either by upgrading to ARM builds of the plugins, or running the Intel build of REAPER via Rosetta.

It's not Reaper, it's your Apple.

Most plugins are Mx native, you just need to install them...
