Remember docker's height/width for each docked window
When you have two windows or scripts, docked in the same docker, they appear with small tabs to be able to show one or another. The problem is that they share the same docker height, and maybe one does require the docker to be a bit bigger than the other.
So the feature request is an option to be able to save each tab docker's height or width in case of vertical dockers, maybe based on the name that appears in the tab, so when you switch tabs, the docker's height/width is changed as needed.
Thank you if you consider this !!!! Anyone who thinks this would be interesting, please say it.

totally agree, but extend that to horizontal dockers too
I have a very thin horizontal toolbar, but also some script windows in the same space, and I find myself resizing them all the time when switching.
Makey an unpolished impression. Would be really nice to save exact position and size for all the different dockers and docker-tabs.

I'll bump this thread each 2 or 3 years... until it is done
X-Raym's gif explains the problem pretty well.

The problem would be when there are more than one docker per docking area. Then it would have to resize to the largest one. But if there is only one docker with multiple tabs then resize to the active tab.

This resume the issue perfectly.
This is still my number 1 issue. Switching dock is part of daily task on REAPER. Everytime I popup a new dock I wish it will resize correctly when I'll close it.

I have no problems with the Docker re-sizing (With how I use them), but I wish that what I put into a docker would remain there.
For example:
Docker 1 has Track Manger on it along with some other items, but every time that I use reaper it moves the "Track Manager to docker 2.
It took me awhile to get every thing working, to how I wanted it to work (With some compromises).
I would like things to stay where I place them.

I thought I finally found a way to make my plugin windows appear in one fixed spot in my projects. But with the docker not adapting to the size of the loaded plugin, this workaround is useless for me.
So a definitive +1 !

This issue plagues me. I have a very little display so I can't really afford to waste screen space. I've spent some time perfecting my layout however I've stumbled across some limitations such as this one which kind of hinders my workflow.

I think they might be reserving this and other big changes to the UI like splitting arrange window, or multiple arrange windows per project for a REAPER 7.0 release

@heda
What clues do you have for this ? 👀🙂
IMHO saving docks height isn't that a big UI change,. It would be just about saving to/calling from extstate value for size.

no clues If they haven't added a simple dock width/height variable in all this time... it may be for a reason. no idea.
but docking system has some internal issues or some limitations. for example from a script if I dock it to a 513 number, on some REAPER installations it docks to the left, but on other system, it docks to the bottom... I can't figure out what is happening. Maybe they would just prefer to rewrite the entire docking system to a more modern one, like we see on many other applications nowadays) with more features rather than spending time on the old code.
