Tap tempo via spacebar and not mouse?

Is this actually possible without additional tomfoolery? i.e. a setting built into reaper and not a 3rd party script, add-on etc.? using the mouse click for bpm is sooo terribly inaccurate.

I daresay you could replace the shortcut mapping for <space> (by default "Transport: Play/stop") with "Transport: Tap tempo".

that would be tom foolery as then you can't start/stop playback. tapping spacebar whilst cursor is over bpm button would be more to the point, but alas, does not work.

Well no, not with the spacebar. Unless you changed it back. If you didn't change the shortcut, you couldn't "tap" it while playing, could you? Well, you could, but the transport would stop Maybe consider vdubreeze suggestion.

You can over the BPM text, it will change to Tap
