Sorry for disappearing, had call for work and was really busy for a long time along with some health issues...
Anyway regarding this specific feature:
Its extremely complicated and not sure if can be done via script. Just when I tought I finally managed to make wire/routing code work, I get into another issue and need to rewrite it from scratch again (and I've done it like 30 times already).
How things get routed and other internal features like passthrough etc. work is really REALLY complex and complicated and I think its impossible to do it the way I've tried.
I'm sorry to say but won't continue with this anymore. Its really time consuming and kinda a endless hole.
When I've been working on this it was almost all day every day and I just cant do that anymore.
All I can offer is that I can share the code (need to find it) and someone else can continue, but IMHO its dead end.
Edit: Here is the code I have been working on (Node Graph is the main script,Node core and Node). Not sure what works what does not since its been constantly rewritten/updated/fixed.
"A" key spawns search FX menu (you need to start typing) that adds installed fx, not sure if all wires work and what I've done/have been fixing.
Ctrl drag creates duplicate,
del deletes
Alt click on wire should delete connection, but in this version I supposed I started rework the logic for the 51st time and something is broken
And on the plus side there is Node Editor script which was idea to make a standalone node editor script (unrelated to this feature).
Edit: found one more "FX_Nodes_GIT", not sure what it is or why I called it git. This one is all in one, but as I see (except that wires work) its not fully featured

Glad to see that are back to us and that you are okay.
I had the feeling that it is not possible to complete. MPL also said something similar in the past.
I think that after so much scripters tried to implement it and found a dead end.
Maybe it is time that the main devs will give it a try [@ Schwa / Justin ?]

Update Imgui to latest, I've made those changes before I uploaded the code, since it was broken on latest imgui

Wow this is so awesome!
but I can't delete wirings by using alt + click and I can't find away to connect fx in parallel
if it was more featured I would use this so much on daily basis on every single track for sure.

Its probably because I started reworking routing code for 27th time and did not finished , but in other script it works (but s0me features are missing)

however the GUI is amazing, it has so much potential.
its like it meant to be.
the stereo mode is great feature! (so clean!)
if easy parallel routing feature will be there it will already be useful, everything is else is just a bonus.
as I see it, this tool could be worth to buy (pay for license) + extra pay to renew it every few months to get updates.
hope that you will find the time to solve this or at least try to talk with Justin/schwa that will give you the missing link.

Great that you got a lot working !
IMHO it is great that it's a 3rd party script (or could be a Reaper extension) and not a built-in Reaper feature, so that those who are interested can add it to Reaper, while the audio-engine centered devs don't need to bother.

maybe it also means that the core code is not good enough and that it can't be done without the main developers intervention. :/
anyway tons of appreciation to Sexan (and the other great scripters that gave it a try and found out the same thing).

my mockup of how the ui could go, trying to stay within dev comfort zone of design
when you click on a container a horizontal line to indicate which container is selected for the macro column
a container should act like a folder that you can open and close
perhaps when you keep hitting the + for more macros at a certain point you get a mini scroll bar
the fx list and macro columns could be resizable horizontally
thoughts?

The FX container project has started!
To be honest, currently it seems like a "folder" for a chain of plugins, can't wait to see how it turns into a monster plugin that can make dreams come true ^_^

No, thats totally unrelated things. I don't know why you or anyone else here link these features together. This thread can be closed or at least marked somehow, since requested feature was actually implemented.

The current container feature has already proven to be a game-changer for me. It has reduced the need for numerous tracks and made my projects much more streamlined and organized. I sincerely thank the Cockos team for this innovation.
I am eagerly looking forward to future developments in this area and will continue to spread the word about how beneficial it is for music producers and mixers. Keep up the fantastic work!
