Actually that's quite normal since lanes are not only for comping, many of us are using it that way too.

Turning fixed lanes on/off doesn't have to do with collapsing the comp lane, if this is what you are looking for, the devs have said that they 're working on this feature.

Ah ok. The short answer is that it's not really expected that users will be switching off fixed lanes this way. There will eventually be a way to collapse fixed lanes to a single viewable lane while still retaining all of the fixed lane information.

Fixed lane mode by default is set with "play all lanes" so i assume i can use this mode to overdub into a new lane, but When i start recording previous existing lanes are not hearable anymore. Same happens in Free item position.
Please change this.

FWIW there is a workaround: Enable 'Auto Punch Recording', then draw a time selection anywhere in the project after your actual items. NB your recording peaks won't be visible till you stop recording. [edit] the time selectiona can be anywhere, it's just tidier IMO

Is it intended?
When I create a comp lane with the square, if there is no item on the "1" lane, lane "1" becomes the comp lane instead of a new comp lane...
I think it can be problematic for some reasons:
- it can be odd (bugged feeling) because usualy it creates a new comp lane. We expect a stable behavior of creating a new comp track.
- because the "1" lane doesn't change his name for C1, if we come back later on the project, we couldn't know than lane "1" is the comp lane
- If we have kept the "1" lane without item on it, it's maybe because we want to add some items later or if this lane becomes comp lane it can be problematic...

When we click on the square to create a new comp lane area, it would be nice to add all the selected razor areas at once. Actually we have to click on all the squares to create new comp lane areas.

Bug:
The selection disapears:
The selected item changes his place. If I delete the item, a part of the item is not deleted.
If I delete the item comp, it would be nice than the bright rectangle disapears, too. It's more logical.

Quick question, back in dev0214, you had an amazing option:

I haven't noticed this around in the last few Pres (albeit I'm not always around), but I'd just like to make sure this has not died. It would be a great and professional feature to have this as a toggle so you don't screw up your Comps and make them out of sync with your source lane material.
I, for one, would love to see this feature brought back as an OPTION... a way to keep us from screwing up. Is this still on the table?
It's too easy to force things out of sync when moving stuff around on the Comp lane (vs the fixed lanes).

Is it possible to have a color option for the comp lane and the comp area on the original item? Actually it's the same option for both.
I would like to have a regular color for the comp lane but I would like to see the comp area on the original item.

maybe this is related with this.
would be nice that as soon as a container is selected in the chain list that the focus gets in the container. so we can per example: paste copied fx, or click "a" do add an effect directly inside the container.
Also would be nice to move selected plugins to the container without the need of opening container.
it's details but i think UX benefits a lot.

Just like we can copy and paste - cmd + c , cmd + v the selected plugins in the chain we need a way to move and not duplicate. Cmd + c , cmd + x for moving. Like we have in osx finder and I believe in windows.
Also I noticed that if we alt and drag a selected plugin it moves it (does not create a copy) but the modifier is opposite of what we are used in osx finder. Drag should move and cmd + drag should duplicate. For osx using alt does not make sense since we are used with cmd.

ctrl (cmd in mac) + x and ctrl + v works for cutting and pasting fxs, which is moving fxs. Alt + drag is a baheviour used when moving fxs between tracks, so changing it would cause inconsistency.

thanks for the insight Susuki! yeah alt is ok, i should have not mentioned it works fine.
In OSX Finder:
- cmd + c then cmd + v , copies
- cmd + x then cmd + v (does not work)
- drag == moves
- alt + drag == copies
In windows (if i remember right)
- cmd + x then cmd + v, moves
- cmd + c then cmd + v , copies
- drag == moves
- alt + drag == copies
so to be coherent in reaper fxchains and for copying effects between TCP and MCP:
- drag should move instead of copying
- Alt + drag should copy instead of moving.
so my request is for the FXchain:
- the most important i think is to add cmd + x, cmd + v action so we can move selected plugins.
- and i think would be more coherent if Alt + drag was used copying and drag used for moving everywhere.
extra: i wouldn't mind if copying in fxchain, TCP and MCP could be achievable with alt or cmd + drag. Both would do the same.
