Default Setting to open recent projects in new project tab...

When selecting a recent project from the File > Recent projects sub-menu, the recent project opens in the currently focused project tab, closing the project that is currently there. Could we have a setting, please, to have recent projects open in a tab of their own?

This has been requested before: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=113259

And strangely enough, in this 2012 thread https://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=993518 it is claimed that the opening of a recent project follows the setting "Open in new project tab" on the Open project menu, but it does not work that way here (W7x64, Reaper v6.23/x64). If it did, that would work fine for me.

Was looking for exactly the same option in the settings. Would be great if this is something that could be added

Until it's a native feature, the script available in ReaPack could be a recourse

Open recent projects in new tab

Default +1 for this

Or an option to hold Shift while clicking the file name in the Recent list to open in a new tab instead of the current tab

Rather than clog up menus, or need modifiers to remember, how about a dialog box that comes up if there is a current project loaded: "Would you like to load project XYZ into a new tab, or close the current project: ABC?"

That's a bit more "idiot proof" (which I need), and given that Project load is a pretty "expensive operation" timewise it's not a bad UX practice to put up a dialog box.

I think it would be best to always have the tabs showing, and preferably at the very top, like in chrome and other tabbed programs. Always have a plus sign showing. When you hit the plus sign load new project or open existing project choices are given. And since we hit the plus, we already know we want it in a tab. Open in a new window should happen from the file menu as it does now.
