Default East West Play and Spaces II causing Reaper v6.31 to crash

Just want to see if anyone else is having these same issues and what we can do about them.

Ever since I updated from 6.29 to 6.31, I've been getting steady crashes with East West software. I use it pretty extensively, and never had issues like this before updating just the other day, so I will try to go back to 6.29 and keep testing, but I don't quite have the time to do so just yet.

I've had crashes in 3 ways now. In the first one, I had already brought in Play.vst3 and had selected a wind instrument. I added Spaces II, tested it on the MIDI keyboard, and all sounded great. But the moment I hit record, Reaper would crash and was making a constant "buzzing" sound. I could repeat this every single time by doing everything in order of:
1. Load Play.vst3 (v 6.1.9 - the most up to date)
2. Select my instrument (from Ra: Wind>Bansuri KS CO-B0)
3. Select D1 articulation
4. Add ReaPitch to chain after Play, set to -5 semitones
5. Add ReaEQ to chain after ReaPitch, Low pass around 1k
6. Add EW Spaces II: Presets>Digital>Planetary Manifestations>M-S>Planetary 4 ST FR 16.0s
7. Project tempo 70
8. Metronome on
9. Hotkeys to beginning recording
(Crash)

If I did everything the same and didn't add EW SPaces II, it would work 100% of the time.

The 2nd way was after I had kept testing the previous crash and realized I could only get it to crash with Spaces II and when hitting record. So, I tried adding it to a blank track on a new project and it crashed instantly. The next time, I was able to load it onto the new project's track without a crash, but I added a few more in a row and then it finally crashed again.

The 3rd type of crash happened after I had somehow been able to create a short 2 track piece including both Play and Spaces II on both tracks. I worked on this for a short while with no problems, saved, but now what seems to be 75% of the times I open the project, it will crash upon loading.

I've added some of the most recent Event Viewer logs. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

My Setup:

Windows 10 x64
Intel i7-5930k
32GB RAM

update: I moved back to 6.29 and have not been experiencing any more crashes. Before I did, I tried to replicate the first crash once more, but it didn't work, so I can no longer say it is 100% reproduceable.

It did still crash trying to open the project with 2 tracks and Play/Spaces on both, so that's when I downgraded. Running super smooth and clean now.

If you could install 6.32 and configure Windows to create a dump file from crashes, and send us the dump file, that would be great. Instructions how to do that are here (section 2):

Did we figure out what was going on here anyone?

I don't really wanna roll back but if I have to I will, as this has put me pretty far behind at work. Would 6.31 be good enough or do I need to go back to 6.29?

@Justin, is a dump file worthwhile even if it crashes straight to the desktop? The instructions seemed to indicate that those should be for when REAPER is unresponsive? If so I'd be MORE than happy to get you one, as I am able to reliable reproduce this issue.

If not then here is my event view info:

Code:
Faulting application name: reaper.exe, version: 6.3.2.0, time stamp: 0x60e8499a

Same here.

Windows itself is not crashing, just reaper closes and goes back to desktop when I hit play and it tries to use the "play" engine.

I saw that v6.33 was available so thought I'd give that a try - same problem.

Faulting application name: REAPER.exe, version: 6.3.3.0, time stamp: 0x60ff0fc7

Gone back to v6.28 (as I still have the install) and all is fine again.

Please let me know what else I can do to help diagnose this problem.

If you are familiar with running cmd.exe you can do the following to get a crash dump which will create a dump at the exact moment of the crash:

1. Download procdump and extract procdump.exe to an easily accessible location such as C:\temp

2. Open cmd.exe and CD (change directory) to that location such as C:\temp

3. Launch Reaper but do not reproduce the crash yet.

4. From cmd.exe run procdump -e reaper.exe

5. Reproduce the crash in reaper and procdump should create a .dmp file. Zip that file and get to Justin.

This might be fixed in 6.34, can you give it a try? Thanks!

I'm on it @Justin, and if it persists I'll see if I can grab a dump for you. And let me tell you, I don't just grab dumps for anyone. Too messy, if you catch me.

So far so good, everyone. I have only done one song, with about 3-4 instances of play, and no hiccups yet!
