How do you collapse and un collapse all folders
Ok, I've looked....I have a bunch of folders, sub folders etc in a project. How do I toggle expanding and collapsing them in the mixer panel with one keystroke?
Surely there is a way. I can't find it. I can only expand one folder at a time???? but I have about 7 just for drums......

Macro...
SWS: Select all folders *(Various)
SWS: Set selected folder[s] collapsed
* Various is there because there is various ways to select folders, you can select all folders, you can select just parent folders and so on, so you need to make the macro to fit what you want

Thanks. I swore I tried that and it just affected the track panel, not the mixer. I'll try again though.
EDIT: yeah, that just affecte the track panel, I would love to collapse and expand all folder of the mixer

You can use "show tracks in folders in mixer" action.

yeah, that helps, but it doesn't expand everything.
My session is like this : folder for drums, folder for guitars, folder for backup, etc etc. Withing those folders I have sub folders (kik, snare, overheads, etc etc)
I can now collapse em all, which is great, but then I want to see every track.....doesn't happen. Unless I manually do it, and then collapse them, and uncollapse.
so, if I have some folder collapsed, some not, it's nice to just hit a key and see every track BAMM! That's what I can't figure out (and I will!!!!)

Instead of toggling them to collapse and expand, just set up different screensets to toggle. Most of my projects have 7 or 8 uniquely different screensets (for either TCP, Mixer, or both) that I can quickly toggle between (like drums, partial drums collapsed/expanded, all guitars, just busses, etc).

richie43's idea might be perfect for you. But if you're still looking for a Custom Action, try this:
SWS: Save current track selection
SWS: Select folder start tracks
Mixer: Toggle show tracks in folders in Mixer
SWS: Restore saved track selection

9 years later, an alternative solution is now available for anyone else wanting this functionality to be super simple.
I was frustrated that reaper didn't completely hide child tracks when you collapse folders, so I created ReaFolders. Once you install it, you'll find the following two actions available to you:
- Collapse all folders
- Expand all folders
Hook them up to keyboard shortcuts and then you have your one stop shop for showing and hiding all tracks.

Cant this be done just by modifying the theme, im sure I used to do that?
Either way, it's cool having it on an action

Hi, I also need this, so I created a custom action and added to my toolbar.
I'm sharing the code here.
Sorry about replying to such an old thread but I wasn't content with the alternatives.

Hi,
Just signed up to the forums and waited for authorisation purely to say thank you.
This worked a treat for me - I'm new to learning Reaper and this is an excellent improvement to my mixing workflow.
