Default Media Explorer : iXML columns

Hi,

For postproduction, it would be useful to be able to display independent columns for some important iXML metadata in Media Explorer :
- Project
- Tape
- Scene
- Take
- Take Type
- Track List (Interleave and Names)
- Note
- Circled (boolean)

And maybe more :
- Sync Point list infos
- Speed infos
- User infos
- Location infos

Thanks for read

Seconding this.
Would be SUPER helpful to have these columns in the media explorer.

We use it as our SFX library hub and are often looking for ways to sort our files into comprehensible categories. Much of this is already in the metadata.

The current +dev builds have support for adding custom metadata columns in the media explorer, if you'd care to test it out.

Has anyone tested this and been able to get it to work? I’ve been able to create new columns but the metadata fields don’t populate. Have created new databases after the new fields have been added but no metadata

Can you link to a file that contains the metadata you are trying to display?

Sure, I've PM'd you a we transfer link with a test file. It contains a bunch IXML metadata that I'm trying to display in Media Explorer, particularly the IXML:USER:CATID field.

I'm able to view it using the item properies window so you should be able to read it all in there.

After adding the metadata column, the metadata won't be populated until you run the action "re-read metadata from media", which will add the new field to the database or metadata cache. We'll add a note explaining that in the next build.

I just tested it. It's very nice ! Thank you very much
So useful !

I made the same mistake as sijam, I didn't think about "re-read metadata from media".

Maybe it would be better if, when adding a new column, the re-read metadata is automatically run ?

I think the downside of automatically rebuilding databases and metadata caches when adding or changing columns is pretty high, but we will add a note in the add-column dialog saying that the metadata won't be populated until it's re-read from the files.

Nice thanks, I've got it working.

I was adding an extra colon at the end of the key too which was breaking it. Very useful update indeed.

Now then I guess the obvious question is, would we able able to edit the metadata in these fields at some point in the future? ;-)

Is it possible to include the "snap offset" in a wave during rendering in this way?

Giving my last comment a little bump, is editing the new available metadata fields via media explorer something we might see in the future?

A strongly seconded upvote for feature request of Editing Metadata in Media Explorer and embedding edits back to file.

+1

I second this too. Editing capabilities for embedded metadata directly in Media Explorer would be so nice.
