Default VST Bass - is it possible to add pickup noise?

Hi,

I was reading this:

http://en.audiofanzine.com/virtual-b...e-trilian.html

Two samples got my attention. Listen to them, they are in chapter "Huge Versatility"

One is clean and one has really nice pickup noise. I love it and I'd like to simulate it somehow.

I thought about;

1. Impulse response... but I don't know how could it work
2. playing pickup noise samples just from sampler placed in the same rack as the bass is...

Any ideas?

The least frustrating option I can think of is to borrow a bass from someone and just record the pickup noise without playing anything and futz with the recorded sound.

... or post a request on a bass forum or etc. if this isn't an option.

If you can find a decent acoustic guitar VST (I know Independence Free has some nice flamenco sounds), you could try running your bass MIDI through it, EQing/compressing/etc to emphasize the pick noise and minimize most of the actual "note" of the sound, and then mix it in alongside your bass.

Thanks for your feedback.

Arbiter, good point. It's midi so there's no problem with triggering noise samples along with bass notes.

Lokasenna, usually vstis are missing randomness in their tone so its probably not a way to go but I'm just trying to download this plugin anyway(if its a freebie)

Regards
Luke
