Default MOTU - Firewire or USB 2.0?

Hi, I’m probably going to buy A MOTU 828mkII tomorrow. I’m having a hard time deciding if I should get the Firewire or USB 2.0 version. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use a PC (XP) with Sonar 5 and Reaper. I also use BFD and a DIY Tama electronic drum set. I’m just recording my own songs, but I the track counts tend to be pretty high.

I’m going on the rumor that the latest MOTU drivers are solid for PC. It wouldn’t take much to convince me just to go with a RME FF800. Though the wife thinks I’m only spending half of that.

I would ALWAYS pick Firewire over USB2.

Note: You will need a TexasInstrument or Lucent firewire chipset based card....

I run an 828mkII daisy-chained to a GlyphGT050 firewire drive into my Gateway P4 XP laptop (TI firewire chips built-in) with ZERO problems...

Thanks Tim. I'll get a TI PCI too.
