Default Plugin 'Softube FET.dll' executed invalid operation during scanning

Hi,

installed the Softube FET demo, 32bit in 32bit Reaper.
During scanning I get this message;

'Plugin 'Softube FET.dll' executed invalid operation during scanning.'

I de- and reinstalled the plugin and the same happens during; clear cache/ rescan.

The demo license is activated on the Ilok.

Anybody who had this happen and knows how to get it working?

Based on the error I would assume it either isn't actually activated or there is some other issue. Reaper IIRC wouldn't throw that error unless it tried to load it and some exception was thrown in the background as part of that instantiation. Can you try loading it in some other app that can host VSTs just to be sure? I trust you but double-check that it is truly picking up the 32 bit version of the DLL.

To OP:

- Do you have the latest Ilok driver installed ?
- Are you sure the demo license is on your Ilok ?
- maybe a good idea to post your issue to Softube as well ?

Hi, thanks for the help.
I checked in FL Studio (32bit) and yes it's there!!
So what does that mean?

Hi,

yes, latest drivers. As it shows up in FL Studio (32bit) after checking vanhaze's tip, I think the problem is related to Reaper. I can also check Cubase 7 elements but since I hardly use that it will be a pain cause of the vst scanning.
Will think of posting it to Softube.
Thanks for helping.

Problaby offtopic and not helpfull at all.
But.. In my experience, Reaper seems to be more "sensitive" about vst plugin scans than other DAWS.
With this I simply mean that a certain VST plugin would be scanned succesfully by other DAWs, in Reaper
that plugin is a problem in Reaper.
Or..will be scanned succesfully in Reaper but at the end doesn't function right, where it would be succesful in other DAWs.

Maybe this has something to do with the Preference settings in Reaper concerning Vst's, where other DAWs simply don't have these settings.
I really dunno, this is simply my own experience.

And for what's it worth, this is for me at the moment the only drawback of Reaper against other DAWs:
It simple seems to have more problems with (certain) VST plugins, where, in other DAWs, the same VST plugins just work fine in other DAWs.

I am on Reaper latest official release and Windows 8.1.

I guess so, vanhaze.
I had one problem with MVintageRotary that Meldaproduction said only happened in Reaper.
Well, it's a pitty but nothing really bad.
I take whatever works, with computers and software.
Don't think too much about it.
Only if there is an easy and obvious fix.
Just like Waves sidechain that needs vst3; I use other brands for SC.
Most things work. And I'm happy with the ease on the CPU that Reaper has with plugins. These days also with Nebula.
