Default ReaSamplomatic 5K - Open Hi-Hat note off on pedal

Newbie here, old Cakewalk Sonar user enjoying the switch to Reaper. It's taking some time, but I love Reaper already.

Trying to use ReaSamplomatic5000, triggering samples from MIDI. Currently I've got each drum piece and associated MIDI on its own track. I've got 'Obey Notes off' unchecked so the hi-hat samples ring out correctly. However, that means when I really do want to choke the hats to a pedal, they ring out anyway.

I can just move all the choked hi-hat parts to another hi-hat track and check the 'Obey Notes off', but I was hoping there was a way to link the 'notes-off' to the hi-hat pedal note or even a closed hi-hat note.

Is there a way to do this, or should I approach this differently?

Thanks, in advance.

So, I've worked around this issue by manually moving all hi hat notes to be choked to a different midi track with samples with the obey notes off checked. It's tedious, time consuming and seems ridiculous.

Open hi hat hits do not have duration, it's just a hit, so you either tinker with note duration and use midi choke, or you tinker with the notes to be choked.

Either way, you tinker...it's just a basic issue with a hit hat, shouldn't be that complicated.

Note off on 46 when 42 is played and the rest of the time ignore note offs. That's it.
