Default "Cutting" vs. "Notching" a Frequency - Possible in Reaper?

So the long and short of it is that I have a "megaphone" effect I use on some of my vocals that's created by lowering all but the mid of the midrange on ReaEq and using Izotope Vinyl. I'm dealing with the slight "buzz" in the ears that comes with the territory. Lowering the freq at 3k does help some but it does not completely eliminate the problem.

I've been advised you need to "Cut" the whole frequency out (see attachments) and that what I was doing was merely "Notching" it by going as low as I can.

Is there a method to completely "Cut" a frequency in Reaper, or is that something I'd have to shell out some cash for. Thanks in advance for the help.

Short answer: yes, you can do that.
Check out Reaper's EQ unit for a wide selection of available filters, cuts, and other fun tools.

Look at the shapes available in ReaEQ. There's one called notch that is basically a cut set to -infinity dbs.

LOL You can look at things a million times and not see it

Ok, thanks guys Other than cutting the freq, what other methods are used to smooth out a "Megaphone" type of sound like that, any idea? I never heard any old Beatles records or Winchester Cathedral with nasty ear fatigue, so there HAS to be a way!
