Default How many of you folks use Stillwell's Spectro, and what's you opinion of it?

I looked on the Stillwell website at the Spectro plugin and it appears to be really nice how you can hone in/edit specific frequencies with super precision. I was wondering who uses it and can you share your thoughts, experiences using it? Is it worth purchasing?

I find it useful for removing unwanted sounds, I purchased it years ago. You know that you can download an evaluation version for free, don't you?

I've had Spectro for quite a while and use it when needed.

Does it do the same thing as izotope's RX Spectral repair?

It does similar. The selection tool is a little more primitive. You have to manually select everything, resizable rectangle is the only shape available and the resolution is fixed. As a spectral editing tool that you can use in-line though it's great.

Hopefully it will get an update that adds a few of these little things but no big deal if it doesn't. It's plenty useful as it is.

Yes its not as detailed as RX but its definitely useful for removing or reducing unwanted artifacts like guitar string squeaks.

I posted a while back that a good cheap alternative to Izotope RX was Acon restoration + Spectro

i was thinking about purchasing but read somewhere that it needs to reload or rebuild graphic info on each opening of the window. i use a lot of very large files and was worried about wasting a lot of time in this process. anybody have any observations or input on these concerns?

thanks,
