Default Good stand alone Linux Soft Synths...got any?

... to be used alongside Reaper?

Looking for Linux Soft Synth type programs that can be loaded on Desk Top as stand alones. There are quite a few.

I find 'Bristol' a fantastic standalone using JACK because I can loop the soft synths into each other. Like a Moog into a Hammond b-3 into a dx7. The sounds always amaze me and I get inspiration and new ideas quickly.

(prefer using JACK {version 1 or 2} double check which one you want)
(make sure pulse is behaving correctly - use ALSAMIXER)

Another cool soft synth is 'Zynaddsubfx' You have a choice of ALSA or JACK in the menu... I use JACK. From the same guy who wrote Paulstretch. Found in many software managers/or compile/ or found in LMMS.

Lets talk about forgotten / unknown synths / or popular ones; as well as bugs work arounds, installation processes and/or other innovative ideas.

http://www.linuxsynths.com/

has good synth details. nik briandc maintains this,
if memory serves.

The Calf effects collection incldes an organ, a monosynth,
and a wavetable synth.
The V1 Suite has a subtractive synth, an additive synth,
a drum synth, and a sampler.
There are two nice dssi synths, Whysynth, based on Kawai K4,
and Hexter based on DX7.
amsynth has a large collection of soundbanks.
Yoshimi uses zynaddsubfx sounds, but has new approaches
to workflow.
Triceratops might be old, but is a good instrument.
Phasex is also a good one.

Cheers
