I don't want to make another thread, so I'll resurrect this one. Please bear with me!
I want to use a simple mono wave file with just one instrument playing a melody and generate a 5-string bass tab from it.
I tried different combinations and configurations of Reaper with Melodyne and Ample Metal Ray 5 VSTs, Guitar Pro 7 and Tuxguitar.
Melodyne can quickly convert wave to MIDI, which is great for the first step. The only problem is that some of the notes aren't separated completely. When I import them to other software, tied ("connected") notes are generated, which messes everything up.
Unfortuntely, I think the tab panel in Ample Metal Ray can only IMPORT tabs in Guitar Pro format and not GENERATE them using MIDI input.
I can import MIDI generated with Melodyne to Guitar Pro and TuxGuitar, but I can't find any way to "condense" the frets so that they don't alternate between showing (for instance) D# as the 4th fret on B string or the 6th fret on A string (AKA not having to move your hand up and down the neck like a madman).
Can someone please help me out?
