Default Pin Patch Operators for FX

In the hypothetical future where a FX routing rework is released, with the ability to run FX in parallel or series with custom routings and a graphical UI, it would be interesting to add a series of small audio operation plugins to aid with the routing. The specific operators I suggest, are:
  • Split Mid/Side: Take a stereo or mono signal and route two outputs, one with the mid signal and one with the side signal, to channels 1/2.
  • Split Stereo: Take a stereo or mono signal and route each channel to the two outputs (so each can be used as a mono input to another FX).
  • Gain knob
  • Channel Delay: Adds a given ms delay to each channel and then outputs them.
  • Signal Joiner: Takes two inputs and converts them into a stereo output.
  • Polarity Swap
  • Swap Channels
  • RMS Autogain Adjuster: Giving it a pre signal and a post signal, it matches the loudness on its output to the pre signal.
  • Pan mixer
  • Signal Sum: Sum or substract all the inputs.
  • VU meter

Most of this tools can be implemented as JS plugins. Their real utility comes with a graphical patch interface, similar to the wire routing window, with this small operators implemented like modules in the style of an eurorack.

All this is already possible and supposedly rather rarely used.

Hence a more intuitive GUI / workflow for this might or might not be viable.

I suppose something resulting from the multiple threads about FX-Containers might be lurking, and this might offer a workflow improvement regarding the issue brought up here.
