I'm sure that you are not the only person who has seen Reaper crash, but for most users, Reaper is extremely stable. In fact that is the reason that I switched from Sonar and N-track to Reaper (Reaper was significantly less prone to crash). However, like most DAWs, there are some plug-ins that cause problems. Almost all of the (rare)crashes that I have had were due to plug-in issues. Your best route forward might be to use trial and error testing. First, add a bunch of tracks without plug-ins. If you can't run 20 or 30 tracks without problems, then you have basic configuration/compatibility issues. If all goes OK, as I expect it will, then try adding plug-ins to a project one at a time (testing after each addition) to determine if you have a mis-behaving plug-in. Avoid the misbehaving plugin if it is non-essential. If it is essential, there are various configuration tweaks to try.

I agree with T on testing.

I have had crashing issues with the last couple of versions, all associated with EZ Drummer activity AFAICG.

The updates come so regularly that I tend to leave it a couple of versions or so before getting too worried, but I guess that is the prerogative of the cloth-eared hobbyist.

So,Kainer, were you able to narrow down the problem to a particular plug-in?

Hey Spike,
When you gonna get the styrofoam-ear upgrade?
You've been working with those cloth ears for far too long.

Well you know, J, you live with a thing and you get comfortable with it and . . . . what can I say? If I do upgrade its titanium or nothing baby!

Besides, being cloth they are like sensory apparatus and security blanket in one handy package

I've been using headphones quite a bit recently and I only just realised I have very little hearing at all in my left ear. Do you think that nightly, close proximity exposure to a china type cymbal in one's twenties can traumatise one ear to the extent that it gives up the game in later life?

Sorry, back on topic . . .

I am getting a little vexed with 2.014 crashing so much now. Is anyone else getting a crash right on start up with some nonsense or other about C++? Sorry if that's a bit technical
