What moderators? lol
The mods are free speech zealots that mean anyone can post in the lounge.
For me the lounge is relatively huge success of how an open place to the whole wide internet can still relatively be so civil and full meaningful conversation.
Yip it is not perfect. But it mirror the imperfect world we live in.

I wont post anything that even borders meaningful in the lounge. Even non-reaper posts get put in general discussion for me now. I hope their love of free speech covers that

Try and read what I said. How's that for snide? Feel free to post an example of me being "snide" if this doesn't make the cut.
Of course, attitudes like that post, complete with terrible reading comprehension and accusations of personality dysfunctions and dark sarcasm, are exactly the reason why I don't post there if I can help it.

Sounds like a lounge discussion to me so maybe you guys can take it up over there. Lock yourself out for awhile (if you can) and you'll see what I mean. Unfortunately (or fortunately whatever the case may be) there are quite a few here who have really much of nothing to do with Reaper minus the lounge.
It's not noticeable until you lock yourself out of the lounge and notice 20 or 30 people suddenly completely disappear because they never actually contribute anything to the community outside of that place.
It didn't offend me to password the lounge when I was a lounger and it doesn't offend me now but it sure is nice to get home, pull up the new posts and not see the constant train wreck that is the lounge. Courses/Horses/Peace.

Oh my. Pattonfreak.
You remember the good ole days. With threads like these.
The lounge was so much more civil back them with the old timers

cool that you had to pick one so old!
See, I was a different person then. Recovering from religion (a pretty destructive one at that!), and somewhat cantankerous when it came to defending what had almost killed me. Consider it a kind of religious stockholm's.
FYI, I was originally, however, responding to quite the trollish comment.
Again, awesome you had to go back 5 years. I've changed a bunch since then
so, you have a problem with people being sarcastic? That's interesting...

O yes i can post a lot of them. From the "good ole days" when lounge was so much better.
Your not so holy dude. Get over yourself.
There was a current one as well i can remember.
Point is the lounge is not perfect but some hypocritical posts here are hilarious if only tragic.

Lol. Noticed that too did ya?
There's another really informative pro music forum whose name I won't mention that had a lounge for all the off topic stuff. It eventually turned into a huge left vs right political battleground. Seriously, lines were drawn and hypocrisy was 'a flying all over the place from all directions.
You could see some of the leftover resentment from people who also did post in the audio boards bublling over on the audio boards, little snide remarks, etc, etc, because they'd spent so much time at odds over their personal beliefs in the lounge.
There were some other people there who apparently only came to push their agendas on abortion or some other really divisive political topic. I don't even think some of them had anything to do with music at all. When the board mods closed the lounge down, they all went away.

That 'place' actually helped me out a coupla times, especially when i was... Errrr... unbalanced. And this thread is more nasty than a lot of stuff in the lounge of late.

I actually noticed this and kudos to you man. Take that as reinforcement that whatever was attempted worked.

I'd have to agree, I left for a year or more and my last entry was a refreshing surprise to what I remembered from before.

Like Suleiman, I believe it's a good place, not a bad place.
The password is a good idea though. Threads in the lounge often have provocative titles that might offend a viewer on the Reaper main page who's scanning the list of subforums. IME though, those same threads are rarely offensive in reality.
We musicians have few places where we can talk, unfiltered (or less filtered), to others who have a similar artistic perspective, about whatever is on our minds.

Just felt to write something completely useless.
And so I did.
If you look at the first line of this post, you can convince yourself.
I BTW don't need to be convinced, 'cos I wrote it.
