Default List of working VST under Wine

Hello everybody, I've decided to make a little GitHb repo with the goal of listing some VST working well under Wine and a bridge/wrapper (I'm using LinVst).
I would kindly ask you to report your experience, here or on GitHub!
I hope this collection will grow enough to actually become useful for someone..

Cheers!

I can report shortcircuit 1.1.2 does not work properly, unfortunately. Try, make something, close Reaper, reopen project and samples will not be found or loaded. Showstopper.

I have most of the Audio Assault plugins running smoothly here, and all of the Voxengo freebies.

Toontrack's EZDrummer also works, but it can take a bit of screwing around with symlinks to make it find all of the sound and MIDI libraries. It also can't drag+drop directly to Reaper, but it's easy to work around.

Ubuntu Studio 18.10.

Thank you everyone! I've updated the list, tell me if I wrote anything wrong of if you would add some clarifications.

@TonE
Which distro are you using? (I'll eventually try shortcircuit as well when I have time, but in the meantime I'd like to add a Tested distro).

@Lokasenna
Have you got any specific Audio Assault Plugin not working?

@Tobbe
I'll wait for the HoRNet list to add them!
Are you using the Ample Bass P Lite 2 (second version)?
Which version of Mint are you running?

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS
Release: 14.04
Codename: trusty
(found out using: lsb_release -a )

If you find a solution to the non-loading/finding of samples that would be cool, this is the reason I stopped using shortcircuit 1.1.2 more or less. It is no fun if you can not simply and quickly open your project later, with correct samples. I asked a few questions regarding this in this forum, but no help so far, no one else seems to care about shortcircuit in wine.

wine --version
wine-2.0.1

(I even tried copying various .dll from windows in the hope it will change anything, but also here no luck so far, I used DependencyWalker to see the used .dll's by shortcircuit.)

Here are the dll's:
PHP Code:
65 [   ] SHORTCIRCUIT.DLL
74      WINMM.DLL
88      VERSION.DLL
99      KERNEL32.DLL
243      USER32.DLL
312      GDI32.DLL
346      COMDLG32.DLL
357      ADVAPI32.DLL
374      SHELL32.DLL
387      OLE32.DLL
403      OLEAUT32.DLL

I think having which version of Wine being used would be a big upgrade to the information.

If downloading from the official repo for Ubuntu, Debian or Fedora https://wiki.winehq.org/Download then:

winehq-stable
winehq-devel
winehq-staging

are available with corresponding version numbers.

Other wise the users's distro will have it's own version and version number.

On Fedora there is an official Fedora one, but I prefer the stable one direct from the authors:
Quote:
dnf info winehq-stable

Installed Packages
Name : winehq-stable
Epoch : 1
Version : 4.0
Release : 6.1
Arch : x86_64
Size : 61 k
Source : wine-stable-4.0-6.1.src.rpm
Repo : @System
From repo : WineHQ
Summary : WINE Is Not An Emulator - runs MS Windows programs
URL : https://www.winehq.org/
License : LGPLv2+
Description : Wine is a program which allows running Microsoft Windows programs
: (including DOS, Windows 3.x and Win32 executables) on Unix.
:
: This compatibility package allows to use wine-stable64 system-wide as
: the default Wine version.
Voxengo Elephant and Valhalla Vintage verb are working great here on Fedora 29.

May I propose you add another column to your list with the heading of Wine Version and add, in my case for example:

winehq-stable 4.0, or wine-stable-4.0-6.1 if you want to get hardcore geek

Thanks everyone,

@David Else
You're perfectly right, I've added a "Wine" column. However I don't want to get too technical and precise since I think that this list should just give an idea about what's generally working and what's not.

@Glennbo
Before adding your VSTs, could I ask you to indicate which distro and Wine version are you using?

@Lokasenna
Could you tell me your Wine version? Thanks!

If you have any opinion about possible improvements, please share them
Furthermore remember to report also the tested Plugins that DON'T work, if any

I'm running Xubuntu 18.04 and wine-4.0-rc1 (Staging) from WineHQ.

I have to keep my Github account clear for work reasons, but if someone would like to add to the list...

Line 6 Helix Native works flawlessly - I've had it working on Wine 2.0.2 on Ubuntu 17.04 and whatever Wine version was included with 17.10, as well as Wine 3.0.2 on 18.10. That's all with LinVst.

I put some instructions up here, for anybody who's interested:

https://line6.com/support/topic/3066...h-added-linux/

It's a tiny bit tricksy, but pretty simple.

There were plenty of doubters, so we ended up recording all the guitars and bass on our album with it. It's a marvel

Also, all of the Stillwell Audio plugins work with the same setups.

Any tips on Jamstix 3? I'm running Ubuntu Studio with JS3 running under LinVST. The plugin loads but when I close it and re-open it the plugin UI will freeze or turn black. I have the BlockMouseMove=1 set in the jamstix.ini. I've tried running native, dedicated, etc, but nothing is working.

Running Ubuntu Studio 20.04 and latest LinVST, and wine-6.0-rc3 (Staging)

All (I'm using around 15 including MSoundFactory) Meldaproduction plugins work really well with Wine 5.20 up to currently 6.0 on Manjaro Linux with LinVst(-X) and Yabridge.

For the installer to work, you need the Microsoft True Type Fonts installed.

For MMultiAnalyzer and MCompare, you need to use either LinVst-X or set a plugin group in Yabridge because instances need to communicate with each other.

Yabridge is more stable in my experience.
