To JS, or not to JS...

Is it possible to create a JS plug that is similar to Poise, the percussion sampler? It's either jump in and learn JS, or learn C++ Vst programming... Either or, I'm determined to create a plug in that acts as a trigger box! Any suggestions on which route to take?
