Default "+Pitch" cc lane blank; can't seem to get it to work anyway

Hello,

I have a song in which a French horn comes in for a few seconds.
I'm trying to affect the pitch of parts of the notes...but I can't seem to get it to affect the notes.
I've attached a image so you can see the entire section.

The cc lane is "+Pitch" -yet there's nothing in the lane itself.
Why does it have a "+" plus sign, if it's blank??

Any ideas what's going on?

Peace.

Pitch bend does not show the pitch of MIDI notes, it creates an offset (hence, the "+" - although the offset can also be negative) to the pitch of those notes. You have to draw (or record) any pitch bend events yourself in that lane. (Btw, pitch bend formally are *not* CC events; it's a distinct type of event, with its own MIDI 'code'.)

You also have to set the pitch bend range in the MIDI instrument you're using; the maximum value could for examole be +2 semitones, but it could also be +12, depending on the range allowed by the specific MIDI instrument).

Hope this helps!

I'm sure I wasn't clear, so I'll re-state this.

When I go to the piano roll/MIDI editor, I see "+Velocity" as the default CC lane, at the bottom of the screen.
The "+" sign before the word, "Velocity" means that there is data recorded in that particular CC lane. Correct?

To see what other CC lanes are being used, I can click on a different "+" plus sign, to get a vertical menu of all the CC lanes/#s.

The CC lanes that have data recorded in them, are preceded by a "+" plus sign.
For example: "+Expression MSB" or "+Breath MSB".

If a CC lane is "blank", then no "+" plus sign would be in front of it.

Well, in my case, there WAS a "+" plus sign ("+Pitch")...despite the fact that it was blank.

Does that make any more sense?

Peace,
Keith

Hi again Keith, no, the "+ & -" are for adding or removing CC lanes. If you click on the "+" it adds a CC lane right above the one you clicked on. If you click on the "-" it removes that particular lane.

That might be true, I've never paid any attention to it and I wouldn't worry about it. I usually already know what CCs I've got data on.

Keep in mind, you can have as many CC lanes showing as you want up to a point. It depends on how high you set them.

I've actually got an icon button in my main midi toolbar that will show all the CC lanes that have data on them. That comes in handy sometimes when I open old projects.

You are thinking of these:

He means a plus sign in the text of the dropbox, and I have no idea what it means.

Anyway, OP your instrument must support pitch bend for this to work. What instrument are you using?

A dot is what signifies content:

Default My fault! I meant the DOT...not the "+"

My fault!

I meant the dot...not the "+", al along
(I really need new glasses...damn!)

So, re-stating this, yet again:
The little black dot appears before "Pitch" (like in the image Ferglar posted)...however the lane has no CC or anything to indicate there are any changes in pitch.

I believe the instrument is CSL French Horns...but I better double-check while wearing new glasses.

So sorry...yikes!!
This is embarrassing...

Peace.
