Or that oldie but goldie, but I reckon you'd want that one for yourself - Rising Water.
I'm going to work on that again soon, iirc it just has scratch lyrics, but as an interesting exercise you could rewrite the lyrics and record it and I'll do the same to see how the two versions developed. That would be cool. Just an idea

That sounds wild - didn't know there were words missing - I'd love to make something with it. I find your version sort of complete, finished. That's how I listen to it. I just wanna cover it, sing it, put some stuff on it. I love the sentiment, the feeling.
Well, full band coming along, thanks to ReaperM, Flicker, and the grand moment in question. I see you off, guys... something that doesn't happen everyday, right?
for a minute there, I was back on that beach in Baja... except the Mexicans were better horn players....
we DID have a mini tornado come through, too... which was interesting then and fits nice with that swooping sound at the end...
.
there seems to be an extra syllable in that line "nothing to do but grin and hold on tight"... can you take that out?
sounds to me like you're singing, "nothing to do but E grin..."
.
don't know what kind of setup you got, but if the bass is midi, you might switching to a tuba voice... if you're looking for a more authentic mariachi sound
and I guess I should tell you that I'm not a big mariachi fan, but maybe the best musical night I ever had was standing in the middle of a mariachi band while they went from bar to bar in Ensenada or someplace like that... it was a foggy night

I also got to say that, driving back with a formadehyde hangover, I felt so bad that I stopped at a fortune teller's place on the outskirts of san diego...
I see what you mean. I like your plan... maybe if we involve morgon... in a wig...? Seriously, making money... is for suckers. Forget it. Fall victim for the art. It's the only thing that counts.
also meanwhile, we got to think about fools for art...
what if fools start coming up with songs that wreck the system --or at least help wreck the system?
maybe that's why the system despises real artists and promotes lady gaga and miley cyrus...
.
I was drawing rhythmic designs on a napkin with a felt tip pen... this wisp of a girl is watching... I asked her if she could draw... she says, "no, I tried, but nothing I ever did pleased me"
who's the judge? ... who do we have to please?
is your ego the only thing? ... does your ego require an audience?
is there something you can please with by simply making music without an audience?
what would that something be?
would a person that doesn't need an audience be worthless to the system?
this weaselly little guy comes into the house, never seen him before or since, my dad introduces us... I play him a song, he says, "it takes a lot of courage"
You left out one, very critical avenue of distribution: paying people to take it.
yeah...
youtube seems pretty biased judging from the peple they headline... you got to wonder wher the musical matriarchy's protmotion money is coming from
maybe it's just that males are so demoralized that they're not making good music... I mean, people can take only so much of this abject male shorseshit...

I bought my first Beatles album when I was twelve... they totally smashed my brain... I don't understand the question. Why music? There's no plan... Q: does an athlete need an audience? A mountaineer? There's always the art, and what you can do with it. You can challenge yourself - you should - and you can study. You may think the universe observes in some way... art is good company.
"The cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness. Although the two are identical twins, man, as a rule, views the prenatal abyss with more calm than the one he is headed for (at some forty-five hundred heartbeats an hour)."
"Woman gives birth above a grave" - Becket, from memory.
Never liked him. I believe Ken Kesey had a special word for the "system" in his book. A deadly force. I suppose that depends where you position yourself in society - or where you have been put.
there are lots of systems... sometimes they compete, sometimes they cooperate, but they all have lots of characteristics in common, and they add up to one big system...
I spose those PNAC guys needed a new pearl harbor because they figured it would unify competing systms
their "benevolent global hegemony" would be the biggest system ever, I guess
