Default Spectral peaks

The Reaper User Guide says that generating spectral peaks uses a lot of RAM, and that enabling the "always generate spectral peaks" option can considerably increase RAM use.

Do I understand correctly then that there is no RAM overhead in displaying spectral peaks once they are rendered? And that the increased size of the peak file is irrelevant?

Seems that way, as they can be toggled on and off instantly and without reanalysis.

Great feature. Introduced when I wasn't looking.

I suppose the RAM use would be a little higher, since thete is added data that is interpreted as colors. Probably not a huge difference.

My favorite setting for spectral peaks is to have a different unique color for each of the 12 chromatic notes. It allows me to quickly find notes by the color of the peak.
