Default Notation/MIDI editor

How well does the Reaper notation editor recognize PDFs?

If I wanted to upload a PDF of standard notation, would it be able to convert it to MIDI, transpose, etc?

Does the PDF need to be of a certain sort (i.e. interactive)?

You'll need a program like Photoscore (light version is included if you purchase a license for Sibelius). The results can be good but you have to manage your expectations. For PDFs that are not of great quality or have a complex polyphony it's usually easier to just transcribe into Sibelius or Dorico from scratch.

I'm finding that, yeah. I tried the Musescore PDF scan and it was unsuccessful. No problem. I can simply transcribe, then export MIDI. Hard work is unavoidable.
