I really think that shouldn't happen. Are you positive that you have options set up like this:
Because if you do, and it doesn't work, then I'm stumped.

Sorted out: I had this option set: "mouse click/edits in track view change track selection" enabled, so that every click on items actually selected the whole track.
Now the main problem is that if you have a track selected, clicking in an item in another track doesn't deselect the first track, iow you have to make sure tracks are deselected if you want to affect items.
Thanks again,
Mario

I'm glad you sorted it out.

Hello,
I am new to Reaper and I have a question about
where to put this. I read your instructions to the
the letter but I am unable to find a folder called
appdata or application data in my documents and settings
folder or my reaper folder. I have uninstalled and reinstalled
thinking that was the problem but to no avail.
Thanks for your help!
Paul

What OS are you on?
On Win 7 it is <user>\AppData\Roaming\REAPER.
On XP it is (IIRC) <user>\Application Data\REAPER.
On Vista I guess it's the same as on Win 7.
Also, you have to "Show Hidden Files" to see it ( http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...ddenfiles.mspx, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...show-hide.html)

Is there a way to make this 'portable'?
Reaper is portable, as in we can pop it on a usb pendrive and run it from anywhere...
But I really want to take this with me too!
Any tips and advice on making it work portably appreciated!
Thank you
Pat

I think if you use "Install REAPER to Removeable Media" shortcut from your Start Menu, these files should all be copied?

Give 'em an inch and they'll ask for a mile . . .
This is of course brilliant.
The thing I would find fabulously useful to take it further would be to have buttons for 4 or more different colour gradients.
I guess that is something that would have to be written into SWS color management extension?

How do I get my icons to look like yours? I thought I followed your directions but must've done something wrong mine is gray and does not have the colors that you have.

Thanks ED!
This is veeery helpful! I use it so often now!
I have one question though, hope you have a workaround:
Any color I choose (be it with your toolbar, or within Reaper's menu), comes out too shiny....especially on dark colors.
So a dark red paints a track more in sort of pink....
If I choose a brighter color, this effect isn't that obvious.
Any idea?
Thanks again for your work!

Depending on selection adds a certain/random color to a whole track or item only.

Dude, this is awesome. I was wondering if you could add more colors to the other toolbars or even make Toolbar 2 bigger (with more colors). Me wants more colors [I don't know how to do it]

Hi!
I had the same "problem" first, then I realized I needed to copy "ED Toolbar Colorset.SWSColor" into Reaper's Color Themes folder.
This did the job for me. Hope it jelps!

I'm now using this with my Korg padKONTROL Each pad assigns a different color and touching the XY pad reverts to the original track color. VERY COOL!
Thanks again for this

Well, finally installed it. This is so awesome!!! (I still don't like the theme you say you like so much, and I see it's similar to the Default one, exept maybe some buttons: I just don't like at all the ARM button, the Monitor button and the sliders. I think they are hideous. -Based on the pics on the wiki page you are using your fave theme? -)
Anyway, for me, this is what was lacking visually Reaper. Now having those tracks FULLY colored makes me HAPPY! :P
Thanks a whole bunch for this. You don't know how much I appreciate it. Now I can have my tracks BLACK! (Love black!) :P Of course I won't have them all black, coz I guess the purpose is to identify tracks.
P.S. Is there a way I can change the color of the tracks to WHITE? And all text indicators like the dB indicator of each track or panning info? Just like your pics on the wiki page (without having to use your fave theme)?
Ok, again, thanks a LOT (I know others contributed too). With this you can feel with each project you have a new DAW or something. :P

You can also use SWS' new autocoloring feature, which can automatically color the track depending on several cases, so if a track has receives, it can have a different color, AUTOMATICALLY after a receive was sent to that track. Check up on it

You have FNG extension (search the forum) which adds groove templates and some other nifty stuff. However, I wish that all those extensions are consolidated into one... we'll see.
SWS is obligatory to have.

It seems so. The man ought to get a medal or at least a bonus. Imagine Reaper without any SWS extensions.

It's described in the Wiki
- Now go to Options->Customize toolbar... Bear in mind that I used TOOLBAR 2 for these icons. If you have toolbar 2 already taken, then you need to go to the folder in which you installed Reaper, and check inside MenuSets folder, open Color Toolbar.ReaperMenuSet file, and change the number inside the brackets. For example, if you have toolbar 4 free, change [Floating Toolbar 2] to [Floating Toolbar 4].

You should be able to find it:
If you don't see this, then you don't have SWS extensions installed.
