Default BSOD whea_uncorrectable_error ONLY when using Reaper

Hi guys,

since a couple of years, Reaper (?) tends to crash my system with aforementioned BSOD. hal.dll, ntoskrln.exe and PSHED.dll seem not to like it, I've tried all sorts of searches and resources, stress tests etc., but couldn't find anything whatsoever.

Previously, I ran Reaper on a Win 8.1 machine and recently I had to switch to Win 10. Today, I was going to record some tracks, and WHEA, there we go again! I always run the latest version of Reaper, all Windows updates are installed, drivers always latest available.

This system is usually running highly demanding tasks that, by far, outdemand 10 Audio tracks, and never, ever does it crash, except when Reaper is running (idle, I believe, only).

Is there any way I can scan/test what's going on? It happens randomly, so I can't really pin it down. Disabling Plugins - well, it may not happen for a couple of days, then 3 times a day. Very unpredictable.

I'm using an old Presonus Firepod/FP10 on a FW interface. But I'm using it for everything, systemwide, and it has never crashed under any other circumstance - except, maybe, the system uses a lower bitrate or something, so the FP10 is possibly only used with 48khz/16bit by Reaper and that causes the crash, but I can never find any mention.

Edit: it now definitely crashed during playback while I was practicing along. Autosave was set to 15 minutes, no Autosave though during that specific time.

Sounds like a driver/hardware issue.

I already went through all that. That's why I'm posting here! Passed all hardware stress tests.

I just want to know, if there's any way to trace it back to Reaper or the audio hardware - it happens only, when idle (PC not touched for a while) and only in Reaper.

If you have a soundcard on your motherboard or another interface you can borrow maybe try that to narrow down the cause

BTW I love your signature ;-)

THAT sounds like a plan. I'll try that and hope for unprovoked crashing!

Yeah, no kangaroos in Austria, ya know
