I really wanted to directly write a DDP image to CD. With ddpinfo, it was possible. This is just a test version (any critique is welcome)

Edit: Windows version updated on Oct. 11 2016 to version 6

DDP To Cue Writer V6

Directions:

1. Select your CD Writer you'll be using to write the CD

2. Verify DDP MD5 checksums. Search for MD5 and CRC32 checksum files in the DDP directory and
use the checksums found to verify the integrity of the DDP file-set

3. Make sure you have inserted blank CD for the selected writer

4. Write the DDP or cue image To CD

Other Stuff:

You can also convert the DDP file-set to a cue/wav format
open the cue, and write from that, or you can also write
previous cue/wav, or cue/bins rendered from Reaper.

Print PQ Sheet (Writes, and saves a pq sheet from the ddp directory in html format)
Options include opening in your default web browser if checked.

Convert to separate tracks with or without pause.

Download Here (portable versions) No installer at the moment.

DDP To Cue Writer (Windows Vista and above)

DDP To Cue Writer (Windows XP)

DDP To Cue Writer (Mac Intel)

Note: The difference in the Windows versions is that Vista and above, uses new explorer style file and folder dialogs.

Special thanks to Andreas Ruge, and all the testers
Wyatt

Thanks for this amazing software.

Any update is coming on the way?

Thanks in advanced!

Looks like the Devs, or moderators have done some housekeeping stuff to the forum.
DDP doesn't belong here "MIDI Hardware, Control Surfaces, and OSC" as DDP has nothing to do with the thread title.

Should there be a Mastering section somewhere?

Wyatt, thanks very much for DDP-2-CW However... for some reason when I burn the DDP image (which was checked and OK) the ISRC and other codes are not present in the final disc – even though the PQ sheet shows them in the DDP folder. Any idea what could be happening? Thanks again

Hmm,
not sure on this.

What's you setup, and what are you using to read back the ISRC codes?

I'm reading the burnt CD's CD Text from Terminal using both "drutil cdtext" and "drutil subchannel" on OS 10.6.8. Could there be an issue with the drive not reading ISRC??? Song and album titles are present but not the codes. Very odd, not sure how to proceed... Am trying to check on other systems.

CD text was part of the Red Book standard way back when the CD was invented. It never took on.

Later, some other parties started expanding it, but that never took on either.

I think if you actually want a CD player that supports CD text today, your choice will be limited. And those that still say they support it, might not even know what they are supporting exactly.

It should be less of a problem with computer CD players. But even those are going the way of the Dodo...

Still, that said, iTunes still supports CD Text. But I've got no clue what they support exactly. None of the standalone players I ever used supported it well. The only two I ever encountered that supported it well, was a CDi player from Philips and a portable Bookreader/CD player from Sony. But who remembers CDi or that bookreader?

The question I'm left with, is "Who was bold enough to exclude talking about it in their licenses?". Especially as the original Red Book was open for everyone...

If you check other cd's that has ISRC codes, does "drutil subchannel" show the codes?

I've been checking several (commercial) CDs and yes, they do show ISRC codes. I've checked the burnt CDs in another drive in another computer and it only shows album title and song names but not the codes. However, I've found that any programme I use to burn the CDs (not just yours) does not seem to burn the codes... I don't know what to make of this... Will keep trying... Many thanks.

One more thing that you could check. Have you checked to see if your burner has a firmware update?

Or could you check it with a different burner?

Default issue with cds burned from DDP file

Hi. I am having an issue where when I burn a CD from a DDP file in ddp to Cue Writer v6 (using the write DDP option) the CD does not work correctly past track 2. If you play the cd straight through it will play each track but the display will be stuck on track 2 (and track 2 text). If you try to skip tracks (either direction)it keeps going to track 2 or halfway through what it thinks is track two which is actually track 3. The MD5 check is good and the PQ sheet is correct.

Now if I use DDP to Cue Writer to export to cue/wav file and use imgburn with these files to burn an audio cd I get a CD that works correctly (all text displays correctly, you can skip tracks just fine, etc).

My main question is, if I send this DDP file to a pressing plant do they convert it to a cue/wav file or use some other process that will result in a correctly functioning CD? I'm concerned about getting back 1000 pressed cds that are flawed.

Thanks!

I'm away at the moment.

@jbasch
Here's a new version of DDP To Cue Writer.
Would you mind testing it?

This has been a bug (according to the developer of cdrecord)
of bad firmware in CD drives. I contacted him on this issue, and here's what he quoted.

PHP Code:
"Your problem is most likely caused by a bug in the firmware of your writer.
This defect is a well known problem that is caused by firmware made by the
chinese manufacturer "
Lite-ON". See also README.audio and the section on
-raw96r in the cdrecord man page.

Please try to write the CD in -raw95r mode."
I've added that command to burn cds in raw96r mode in this version.
Just make sure that there is a checkmark "Write CD in raw mode"
Download is Here.

Please let me know. I've tested it on my end, and it works.

Many Thanks,
Wyatt

Hi Wyatt,
Recently I tried to verify my DDP checksum and print a PQ Sheet for a DDP that I had to do for a client, but the DDP2cue writer crashed on the latest version of Mohave. I solved the problem with the Commandline tools, so I got the DDP to my client without any delay, but I wondered if you are planning to do new version which would work on Catalina? Thanks!

Hi Rene.
Yeah, I'll do a new build, but it may be awhile, as I don't have a Mac machine that will support the latest Mac OS's.

What is the last version of Mac OS when it did work?

Also, could you send me your Reaper project file (Just the .RRP file)?

Many Tahnks,
Wyatt

Thanks Wyatt! I'm not in the studio at the moment, so have to send you the RPP file later today. But creating the DDP wasn't a problem at all. When I tried to load the DDP into the cue2DDP writer, I got a message that said something like "Access violation/.. But when I did the Checksum verification directly with ddpinfo, everything was ok! I have this problem with every DDP, also with DDP's which worked fine previously. Not sure which Mohave version was the last working one, but that should probably be one of the first releases.
Thanks! Rene

Oh, Ok.
Yeah, I've just done some quick studying, and looks like I'll have to update my app for sure.

"With the release of macOS 10.15 Catalina in October 2019, Apple has removed all support for the 32 bit Carbon framework from the operating system in favour of the 64 bit Cocoa framework."

I didn't know this. Dang, Apple.....

No need to send your Reaper project file.

This will take some time for sure, as I'll have to get a Mac that supports Catilina, and above.

I'll eventually get it done, but I just don't have the time right now.
Maybe this summer sometime, or as soon as I can.
Thanks so much for reporting it.

Wyatt

Hi Rene.
I did mess with it today. Anyway, I'm sending you a private message with a test version.
Thanks,

-------------
Unable to create carbon widget for progressLogRichMemo: TRichMemo!
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruptio.
Press Cancel to kill the program.
---------------

even if I press OK, the program quits.

fortunately I did manage to run it on an old machine.

Hi.
I'm working on a new version. It's going to take some time to finish it.

Meanwhile, I did fix the current version to work on latest Mac 64 bit.
Please test.

You can download it here

Default Issues with my burn via DDP to Cue Writer

Howdy all, new member but a long time user. It's rare that I have clients ask to Burn CD masters, but I have one. I've burned and verified my DDP file, and all checks out, however, when I write the DDP to CD, what happens when I go to play it is one of two things, and I can't figure out any rhyme or reason:

1. The first track will play fine, any subsequent tracks will maybe have a few seconds of audio or none, then they'll repeat and ultimately be ejected automatically.

2. All of the audio plays at once.

Any suggestions on what I should check would be way appreciated. What's driving me nuts is that I have successfully burned CD masters prior. I can start my own thread if you prefer, this just seemed appropriate. Using Windows 10 Home, Reaper 6. Thanks!

Well, welcome to the forum.

Sounds like the CD index is bad. Sure your burner is still OK?

Hi.
Sorry about that.
I haven't had much time to update DDP To Cue Writer.
Would you download the version in this post, and make sure there is a check mark to burn it raw.
https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=492
Let me know if that works.

Thanks,
Wyatt

Many Thanks,
Wyatt
Hi Wyatt, How are you? I hope well.

So from now on, should I be using version 7?
I have doubts when I see that in the main post of DDP to Cue WRITER v.6 is still maintained as the latest version.

Cheers!

Here's a new version of DDP To Cue Writer.

It's basically a GUI for some great command line utilities that includes ddpinfo written by Andreas Ruge, and cdrecord which is part of cdrtools written by Jörg Schilling.

Wyatt
You're great! I will use these mentioning you, in a video in few weeks.

A Reaper plugin extension GUI that edits DDP markers in a listbox.

Special thanks to Justin Frankel for fixing bugs, and porting to Mac.
Thanks to Christian Fillion for helping add column drag and drop, ini fixes, and code help.
Thanks to SWS for code snippets, Tim Payne, SNM, and Xenakios.

Directions: This is not a vst plugin.

Download the zip file, extract, and pick the version for your operating system, and place it in the user plugins folder. Example: In Reaper, from the main menu go to "Options","Show Reaper resource path in explorer/finder", copy and paste the dll (Windows) or dylib (Mac) in the User plugins folder.

Restart Reaper, go to "Actions" menu, "Show actions list", and in the filter text box, type in DDP, and you will see it there ("DDP marker editor").
I still need to do a manual, but if you right click in the listbox, you guys will get the idea.

Get it here from the the stash.

Or direct download is here:
https://stash.reaper.fm/34295/reaper_ddp_edit_R1.zip

The source code lives here: (just in case any of you coders want to add any features, etc, as I don't have time at the moment)

Enjoy!

Many Thanks,

WARNING:
if the name of the directory where the DDP files are settled, contains accents (´`etc) the Program will return white page as HTML.
It deosn't even tart correctly the MD5 verification
it's something I have experienced right today.

The directory was named "Trí CD"

Hi Bart.
I don't think it's the Marker Editor, or Reaper.
Perhaps the DDP To Cue Writer that you are using to check the md5 checksum, and print out a pq sheet?

Anyway, try this version.
Download Here.

Thanks,
Wyatt

That's great! It works !!! WARNING the ZIP reports to be version 6 for Win but it's version 8 for Win 7

Ah one thing: is it normal that the PQ Sheet has only the following fields?

Trk Idx Start Duration ISRC Title

The other ones, like Author, Message etc have never beign showed.

I have an issue, when I try to do the simulated write with the DDP To Cue Writer.
I get some warnings at the end and the writing doesn't start.

The process goes this far (just the ending of the log):
...
Using generic SCSI-3/mmc CD-R/CD-RW driver (mmc_cdr).
Driver flags : MMC-3 SWABAUDIO BURNFREE
Supported modes: TAO PACKET SAO SAO/R96P SAO/R96R RAW/R16 RAW/R96P RAW/R96R
Drive buf size : 362208 = 353 KB
FIFO size : 0 = 0 KB
cdrecord: Fifo not supported.
scsidev: '0,0,0'
scsibus: 0 target: 0 lun: 0
SCSI buffer size: 64512
cdrecord: Warning: Cannot read drive buffer.
cdrecord: Warning: The DMA speed test has been skipped.
cdrecord: MCN '689690833xyz' has illegal length.

Any ideas where the problem might be?
