is there a free vst or a reaper function capable to triggering percussive sound?

THere is the "JS: stillwell/drumtrigger" it works pretty well.

Not a sexy or easy GUI, but it does the job.

You can also use reagate to send MIDI on open/close. This is not velocity sensitive however.
