Default Is There a Way To

Is there a way to bring up individual track FX windows without the Reaper add/remove rack in the TCP. I know it possible in the MCP. With FX and VSTI Gui's become so big that they need an entire screen the reaper FX rack doesn't seem to be able to contain the gui's.

Not sure if I fully understand your question but a sneaky tip might help

if you assign one track control knob to each fx you can actually double click that knob to open AND CLOSE the fx window for the fx assigne to that control.

not perfect but helps for now.

Yes I believe you've grasped what I was after, but I was hoping there was a simpler solution.

Oh, didn't know this. Thanks for the tip.

Despite of this, if I don't have assigned a track control, I'd also like to know if there's a way to bring up individual FX from the TCP without the FX chain window (I think that's what DaveG asked).

If this isn't possible atm, maybe a right-click option on the FX button "show FX..." could be integrated in the pop-up menu. (optional of course).
But that's rather something to be discussed for a FR (don't want to hijack the thread...)

it would be fantastic if we could control click or something like this to open up all the fx windows for that track instead of seeing them all in the fx bay thingy

As all the windows remember their position once they have been moved into place they can be easily accessed again.

even better if the same action then closed them all too!

think this is a vote-able FR somewhere.

Actually i was just about to post a similar thing (F/R) i guess.

If you have one fx param knob on the MCP or TCP , clicking it will open up the FX window. But there is no way to do this without clicking on an FX knob. I believe there should be actions, something like:

open up FX window for FX1 on selected/last touched track
open up FX window for FX2 on selected/last touched track
......................FX3...........

and so on. I dont think there is already an F/R for this

How about right click on the FX button displays all the fx in the order added (along with what's there already) and left clicking on any one of them brings up the particular fx window without the reaper fx rack thingy.

Yes I think we need some GUI love and some action love.

I went ahead and created an offical F/R for the actions part.

if you right click on the TCP fx button
you have a quick add fx as in the MCP
i think it's good enough

sorry, no, this is about showing the gui of individual FX already added from the TCP (without the FX chain).
as stated, this is not possible atm, so a valid FR IMO

I like this solution better than actions (or rather as an addition) because

1. mostly I'm more mousing than using actions/shortcuts

2. If I have many tracks with many FX an action like "open FX window for FX parameter 1 on selected track" (as suggested in the FR) might leave me thinking "uhm...in which order do I have my FX on this particular track".

(I think this should than be made optional, because I have read several times that others like the "uncluttered" quick add FX menu as we have it at the moment)

best would be the two options to choose from, of course

@ yhertogh:
would you perhaps add this in your FR ?

ah, if i understood, you want a quick float FX from the TCP ?
that's i'm for, too.

Nofish,

it seems we have different reasons for this request. I dont want a 'quick FX float' from the TCP. The MCP does this already (if you make the FX inserts visible). If you add at least one FX knob to the TCP you can also do it from there, which is what i would do: I would add the bypass FX parameter. I want to use actions to launch floating FX windows from a controller/surface.

So I think a seperate F/R is in order, which calls for a quick FX float on the TCP without the need for the FX parameter knobs.

Yves

Ahh, ok. I didn't get that part somehow. So agreed.

edit:
FR for the "mousing part" is here:

Tracktion always displayed all the plugs in each track (in about the same space as Reaper's TCP...)

It's nice to be able to see the whole signal flow without having to select a track and then bring up a chain...

not sure what the elegant solution would be but maybe this request doesn't go far enough...
