I still can't audition my EZ drummer loops without hitting the play button on Reaper.
...which doesn't work since half a dozen other instruments start playing I can't hear what I'm auditioning. I've unchecked every kind of sync feature and rechecked it......this computer is pissing me off.
Heelp pleeease.

Hmmm... always worked/works fine here. Are you clicking all the way over to "playing variations" in the groove window of EZ? Have you got any plugins before EZ? "Run effects when stopped" *should* solve the problem. Maybe try going back to default settings in the Prefs/Playback window, then check "run effects when stopped" option?

yeah....I've been using EZ drummer for a couple years with no problems at all. Also, no real problems with Reaper....but, I upgraded to 4.0 in Reaper not to long ago....then, I got a new computer a couple weeks back.
Now I have a few weird ass things that do not make any sense to me. Such as this.

Well, (see specs below) I'm using reaper 4.15 and I'm not having that problem.
I can only think of stupid things like which OS are you using, and what version EZ drummer do you have?

I have the latest version of Reaper. I always keep it updated. I have Windows 7.
One Thing I am wondering is ..... how do I know if I have 64 bit or 32 bit EZ drummer? Or will that make a difference? I think when I re downloaded after getting the new computer, the version of EZ drummer just said 32 or 64 bit all in the same download.
I guess maybe I will just get use to working with it this way.
Maybe I will delete reaper and re download it. Maybe it just has a hic cup or something.

Another thing for sanity purposes.......you are right-clicking on the "groove" you want to play inside of ezdrummer, right?

The setting you're looking for is probably "Don't flush synthesizer plug-ins on stop" in Preferences->Plug-ins->VST

Just opened a new project in R415, inserted EZD on a new track.
Just to make sure all was well I DID import some MIDI into the track and EZD played it when I hit play.
I then deleted the MIDI to be safe and opened EZD's interface.
I had already loaded the pop/rock kit and then opened "grooves".
I selected a basic demo groove and went to the particular grove I was going to audition.
Clicked on it and it played once. Then clicked on the blue right facing arrow beside the grooves window and the sample looped in audition mode.
So you DO appear to have a setting somewhere messed up.
...or you are holding yer mouth wrong, boy....

appreciate you checking.
I most likely am holding my mouth wrong...still.
It just doesn't even make any sense. The drum loop deal is pretty useless without being able to audition them.
I'm going to go cry now. It's not unmanly to cry about something like this is it?

Are you using 64-bit Reaper and 64-bit EZdrummer?
Repear will display REAPER v4.15/x64 in the top left of Reaper (or whatever exact version you are running.
EZdrummer will display '1.3.1 (64-bit)' in the lower left corner if you are using the latest 64-bit version.

yeah, you'll know if you are using bridged if it has an "x86" wrapper in reaper as well.
there has to be a reason.

FWIW, the 32-bit version of EZ works/auditions fine here in the latest 64-bit Reaper version.

okay using 64 bit reaper.....but.....no where on my ez drummer does it say 64 bit.....and it "does" say bridged. Sooooo, am I to gather that I have the 32 bit version? YAAAAAAAAAY....finally.....I also have to wonder what other plugins I might b using that are 32 bit.
...as long as my other plugins aren't giving me any problems, if they are 32 bit, then....I shouldn't really have to care right?
I'm off to Toontracks to see about downloading a new version of EZD. YAAAAAY

The bridge is annoying and doesn't dock.
You really should be using the x64 version.

okay.....I downloaded the 32 bit Reaper version. Now Reaper and Toontracks is working perfectly. Also....Finally my plugins don't keep floating. Which was also pissing me off.
Thanks for all the help.
AAaaaah....I see no reason to delve into 64 bit ....any reason I should give a care one way or the other as long as everything is working?
Thanks to all of you guys for helping me out. Appreciate it.

How much RAM in your system? If more than 4GB, do you have the need to access all of it?

A 32-bit host (Reaper) in a 64-bit OS (W7) can access 4GB of RAM.
If you need to access your full 8GB, you will need to use the 64-bit Reaper (and 64-bit EZdrummer).

You won't have to worry about that with ezdrummer.
Again though, I don't like dealing with the bridge because of it's weird floating extra window thing.
Glad you got it worked out, signing out.......

And of course using 32bit R in 64bit W7 you can always staert ram hungry VSTis as a separate process, which will allow you to access extra ram.
