Default Not understanding LICEcap

It tells me Choose file for recording and I type in a name.
I let it 'record' for a little bit and then stop.
I hit record again and it prompts me to choose a file for recording again.
The file I previously recorded is listed there as being in >Program Files>LICEcap,
but if I navigate there with Windows Explorer, it doesn't show as being there.
Also, when I open it while in Reaper, it sets everything offline.
What's the deal with this thing? Am I missing something so obvious?

**BUMP**

I figured out the offline issue. Sill can't find the GIFs I give names to.
Why are there no basic instructions to use this.

Vista doesn't let LICEcap (or any other app not running with admin permissions) create files in \Program Files. You need to save to a folder where it's allowed to write or try to run it "as administrator" (right-click the .exe).

Your files probably ended up in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Pro gram Files\LICEcap

i created a desktop folder that i save all of my licecap files to. I think it'd be nice to see the tutorial ones being posted here linked on the wikipage or hosted on a server somewhere. i'm adding mine to my server.
