Default *best* passive computer speakers?

I'm looking for a set of computer speakers that operate w/o batteries/ doesnt need plugging into power source.

some good oness too.

aside from headphones. need some speakers for the dish washers at work. our outlets were sprayed with water, thanks to a coworker.

I'm not sure you'll find a set of speakers that are loud enough. can they be USB powered?

I use the Tannoy 501a and love them to death... the passive version is 601p with a 6" woofer here: http://tannoy.com/StudioSummary.aspx

Amazon lists them for $125 each. Awesome deal imo and if my 501a's die I will absolutely buy another pair.

^Wow, $250 studio monitors in a dish pit? Call me crazy, but this sounds like a bad idea.

Your best bet is to fix that outlet and get a cheap ipod dock thing. How long before your nice new speakers get soaked?

I think he means doesn't need any power whatsoever. I think needing a power amp counts as plugging them in to a power source.

yeah. just fix the outlet. it would take me less than 5 minutes to swap out outlets.
