Default rme fireface ufx reaper crash no audio device

Hi all,
Tried to use a friends fireface ufx on my pc via USB the other night.
Downloaded the drivers/total mix, it shows in windows audio.
Loaded reaper to choose options/preferences/audio/device
It doesn’t load and reaper crashes if I touch anything.

I’ve used the same version of reaper portable on a laptop and it worked fine, windows 11 on that machine.

Pc has W10 home.
Works perfectly with my ssl converters and madi card.

Has anyone had the same issue or knows how to resolve?

Thanks in advance brains trust!

Works perfectly here with both a UFX and UFX+.
Is your firmware up to date and is TotalMix running ok?
Tried resetting Reaper to default settings?

Best
Frank

Total mix seemed fine, just not able to select an audio device.
I’ll have to see if my usual converters are still available when I plug them back in, otherwise a reset to default may be next...

Quite unusual, I know the ems stuff is generally solid, and I’ve used this particular unit before... must be a setting somewhere in the pc or reaper

A USB transmission problem has been found the last week, affecting some interfaces, in combination with certain USB chip sets. A new firmware and driver has been released.

Maybe your PC is one of the affected ones?

There's also a beta for TotalMix with refinements and bug fixes. I'm running that with a FF400 and no problems, but I didn't have any problems before either.

Oh, ok. Thanks mate!
I’ll download the new driver, hopefully that was it.

I guess it would make some sense, if the hardware isn’t transmitting, reaper wouldn’t see it?

Good info none the less, thanks for your time!

If the latest driver/firmware doesn't help, have you tried a hardware reset of the UFX+?
