Different frame rates in project?
I know how to change the project settings, but one of my videos is 29ND, and the other is 30. So I'm getting blank frames on crossfades.
Any thoughts what I could do? |

hmm, I'm wondering if I'll also have a problem with audio going out of sync on the video that is not at the project frame rate....
Has nobody had this problem? Conceptually, it seems like you'd have to 'resample' the video somehow.... |

Not sure if there is a problem. Even if the frame rates differ, it shouldn't lead into black frames. Only thing that would happen is that one frame lasts a bit longer than the other. At least in my understanding. Of course there could be a bug or a problem with that, but I never noticed.
Does that show up in the rendered version or only in preview? There could be a big difference. Greeting Eli

Oh don't know! I'll check the render.... BUT
I also read here that if the clip doesn't start exactly on a frame, you can get this problem, and I'm thinking that is likely the problem. It's awkward to keep changing the timeline units going back and forth from audio to video, but I'm getting used to it. I wonder if it would be possible to write a script that changes the timeline based on the selected track.... so if, say, the track name contained 'video' it would switch to frames, and otherwise it would show bars and beats. I may look into that. |

From reading the thread linked to in that thread:
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=222967 It looks like this may have been supposed to have been addressed, hard to tell...?? |

Black frames at fades/cuts seem normal in Reaper. Seems like the video processor completely shuts itself off, and needs a frame to start up after being idle. (I have no technical knowledge on this - it's just how I justify the behavior). Check your rendered file - if it's what I"m talking about, your render will be fine, despite what the video window shows!
I have buttons on my top toolbar for switching grids. You could get even more quick by setting hotkeys. And even fancier, yes I'm sure a script (or even just a custom action) could do it for you when you select a track. |

Yes, in general that's true with Reaper video capabilities. The preview will often show problems and glitches but in my experience the render is always good.
