Default Looping piano

I am playing a 12-bar tune.

I thought I would add a keyboard part, a nice tumpety-tumpety-tumpety-tump with the right hand. However, to play through the entire song using the same pattern I invariably make mistakes. So I recorded just the one verse, ending on the turnaround.
I then when to stretch the sequence to the end of the tune but there is a gap after the turnaround just before the verse starts again. I think I left a bit of space before starting to record, so maybe I should use the punchin record mode so I can back off a bit before starting to play the piano pattern, or is there an easier way of doing this?

is it an audio or midi item?

either way it should be fairly easy to edit the part and when that is done you can drag it out as a loop

it's hard to tell you precisely what to do without seeing or hearing the part

Sorry I should have specified. It is a midi tracks. The instrument is supposed to be hammond organ type sound.

Thanks for your answer.

you can loop a track (see loop option in context menu of the recorded item). After that you can loop the element by grabbing right or left boundary of the element and dragging away to extend its size. Repetitions will be indicated by triangle shaped marks between them
If recorded element has not desired size (moving boundary doesn' cut data, it hides only and reveals during looping), you have ro set proper size by resizing/cutting, then select glue option from context menu. Since this, the element will have the exact size shown in track (no hidden data).

then it is easy... just edit the midi notes first to get everything as you want it....

then you can either drag out that item to make it loop, or you can copy and paste it as many times as you like....

IF you copy and paste you have further options.... at first the copies will be pooled copies... so that any note edits in one will affect all the others.... but lets imagine you want some of the copies to be unique... OK then you unpool just those items and then edit the notes in just those...

Thanks Hopi, that sounds interesting. Now I have to find out how to "unpool" items!
