Music is great, almost sounds like Pantera at times and I love the synths. What type of synth did you use for this song?
Mix is cool but the only thing I can say is I expected the ambient intro to be much quieter than the rest of the song but when the song actually kicked in I had to turn my speakers up to properly rock. Maybe turning the guitars up would help fix this as they seem a little quiet anyway.

Awesome song, excellent production.
I'm gonna nitpick, because I know you like it
Seems like you went for an overall slightly more ambient sound for this one, which works well for the song. But I feel as if you left out the lead vox in this treatment. It stands out a bit as being the only thing completely upfront. Either the lead vox needs to be brought into the general ambience a bit or the rest needs to come out of it slightly (I think!).
I also agree with the comment that intro makes for a bit of an anti-climax when the rest of the song comes in.
---
But like I said: nitpicking, this is great stuff as usual.
When can we expect to see some sort of official release? Bandcamp please? I'd buy high-quality flac's of this shit in a heartbeat!

Lyrics:
A born loser... A force to reckon with
A tantalizing tale of make-believe and all hope is lost
The search begins for the remedy
An exercise in futility. all hope is lost
This feeling overwhelms me
Drawn back to the place that
I despise
I know the point is useless
No luck, no time, no sense of pride
The thought of moving forward
Is never to be felt
No not once
A constant motion backwards
God save the queen. All hail the dunce.
I'll play the part of your
Marionette (but)
I won't bide your time just cause your lips are wet
And I'm not willing to fall
Back into the same ol'
Sequence
So sick of constant torture
Enough to make me
Pray for death
I feel I'm not the problem
But still I want to
Pray for death
Oh to leave this world behind
And start a new life
On my own
Solitude... Sanctuary
And start a new life
All alone
Divide my past
Into seperate events
Whatever it takes
To prove my innocence
Can't stop feeling
Like I've overlooked
Something critical
Or maybe I'm just cynical.
Devoid of passion
Devoid of regret
Won't talk you down
Because your mind is set
And I'm not ready to give up
On this battle... Just yet.
Breaking down
Not a chance in hell
Breaking down
To redeem myself
Breaking down
How did it come to this
Breaking down
Lost in my mind and I can't get out
(Solo)
Divide my past
Into seperate events
Whatever it takes
To prove my innocence
Can't stop feeling
Like I've overlooked
Something critical
Or maybe I'm just cynical.
Devoid of passion
Devoid of regret
Won't talk you down
Because your mind is set
And I'm not ready to give up
On this battle... Just yet.
I'm not ready to give up

I look forward to these posts.
Very lush sounding full production in some parts of this one. Heavy grooves too.
I love it when the chugga switches to a part chugga/part riffy kind of thing around 1:18 or so. That's when stood up in my cubicle and started banging my head and making devil horns. It was not unlike an MTV segment. Everyone around me started moshing, it was all very surreal... especially because I was wearing headphones. Weird.
FTA's got a definite sound happening. I heard signatures all throughout this baby. From the vocals, to the way the solo interacts with the underlying music, to the music itself. I'd be able to pick you guys out of a line up for sure.
What can I say? It's the FTA.
Another great tune for the catalogue guys.

Gotcha - I kept them toward the back only because I had so many other things going on in the high end of the mix (synths, heavy vocals, etc.) But, now that you say it, I think they could come up a tad. Thanks very much for listening man! Really appreciate the positive comments!!!

I will check it out - I did about 13 revisions to the mix yesterday! LOL! You may be right - I am using the JS: Resonant Filter plug to get the sweep sound, so I may have automated it a bit too high.
As for synths here - I am simple when it comes to that stuff - all the synths I use are freebies. Intro was Adonis (HG Fortune) mixed with the beta of Helix that I got eons ago, as well as the free Kore player with the preset Abyss Flowers loaded (my favorite Pad sound - right out of the box, and you can hear it in almost everything I do)
Thanks for the comments man - We really appreciate the listen, and I am glad you like it!

I LOVE nitpicking - seriously, ask Scott (Shemp) - that is the only way you get better! I hear what you're hearing as well - I definitely did go for more ambient here (ala Devin Townsend - one of my favorite producers ). And, I agree with the vocal comments - I think a bit of EQ qould suffice versus relevelling the tracks. Might have a go at that sometime soon.
Thank you very much man! Appreciate the kind words!! And, as for a bandcamp release - I never really thought about it! We may have to look into that!

Thanks very much man! When's your next metal song due? I gotta tell you - your song "Pole Shift" has to be one of the coolest pieces of music I've ever heard!
For anyone who hasn't heard this song, you're missing out - check Carbon's Reverb Nation page.

Thank you very much man! We appreciate the comments very much, and - it's really cool that we have an identifiable "sound".
Usually the way it goes with us is; one of us will write the underlying song, then the other members lay their parts on top. Then I mix everything and release it. So, for you to say we have a "sound" reinforces the fact that we're all pretty much on the same wavelength.
Also, can't wait for the new M2M tune man! Mix that shit!
Everyone - Thanks so much for listening!

Hehe, thank you back! Now, where's that blush icon...
Busy times at work now (which is a good thing), so I'm not sure when I get that riffage urge going - the frustrometer is climbing though.
These metal thingies tend to take lots of tweaking and polishing.

Aw shucks
Usually its one of 2 processes:
1-Listen to the song and whatever feeling I get from it I try to convey via the lyrics.
Or
2-Have a specific "story" to tell (ala April, May I?) And write around that.

Guys - I'm not really much into this style of music. My kids bring stuff to me that they like, and that's my main exposure. But this.....this is really listenable. My head was bobbing and I was actually digging the lyrics. Great mix Chris. Like Kevin said, very lush. Dense but with definition and depth. One mention - as I type, I'm listening on a Dell 5-way system (4 satellites and a sub), and there is a relentless high-end fizziness that get pretty fatiguing about 1/4 of the way through. Might just be this system, but I've never noticed anything like it before. PF - you're my favorite screamer! I could actually follow the lyrics. And the melodic sections were a nice compliment. Shemp - cool sound on the leads. Impressive work all!

Excellent. Thanks! PF does indeed rock.
Not sure about the fizziness. Seems clear here but we'll take a closer look at it for sure.

Well I'll just record them for now. I'll give them a listen at the gym. I find metal is sometimes good for working out. I'm only seeing the 6 songs though, not seeing any back-catalogue right offhand. Jeez, am I the last person in the world to spell catalog with a ue? Frigging retarded spell checker.

Thank you for listening man! The direct links are within the forum, but I will get a folder posted on my Box account that has all of the songs in one spot sometime soon.

Thank you Kyle!! Glad you dig this my friend!
That's odd about the fizziness - but could very well be due to the modled guitar amp.

To those of my acquaintance I am known to have a vocabulary of no little grandiloquence and considerable proportion ( pretentious wanker is actually how most of 'em put it)
But I am running out of words to praise this stuff. Just consistently stellar quality work and as I think KF said, a real signature sound.
Your gear just really f*$king flies.

Do our other songs possess this same fizz?
Just curious if you get a chance. Trying to pin it down.
Although different amp model was used on this song..........
thanks!

Ok. This is FTA's best song thus far. The melodic parts of the vocals (non-screaming) don't sound *as* good. I actually think this has more to do with the effects used than with the performance.

Thanks guys, and keep posting as you roll out new ones. I recorded all the songs from your reverbnation page and took them with me on my bike ride this afternoon, and my RPMs were enhanced by your musical raging, FWTW. :-) I'll listen to them at the gym tomorrow night too.
I think I like the newest one about the best so far? It seems pretty perfect. One little request: I'd like to hear an acoustic or even classical guitar layered over the electric, maybe in a future song or something. But that's just a fetish of mine, and no reflection on your music.
And BTW, yeah Dethklok is brilliant actually. There's a couple instrumental passages from their show that I really enjoyed musically. FWTW. Once again, not a metal head; the only metal I have on this computer is Judas Priest British Steel. Oh, and I saw Ozzie perform Crazy Train weekend before last. At the rally to restore sanity.
