Anybody looking for late 50's early 60's Strats Teles and amps??
Picked up one of my strats from my guitar tech today. While I was there, he showed me some pictures of this guitar collection one of his customers has.
He's got over 500 guitars and even more amps, that he's been collecting since the 60's. In addition to strats and tele's, he's got Bassman, Princeton, Tweed, Twin Reverb, and other amps, cabinets, and heads.
He showed me a picture of one amp, I think it was a Bassman, that was built in 1952. They've all been sitting in a 1600 sq. ft. warehouse, most have only been played a little, a lot of them have never been played at all, still have the original strings on them.
Friend of mine Dave Gant who plays keys and fiddle in the Garth Brooks band has a collection like that.
I got carded by Garth many years ago at a bar in Yukon. He was working the door.
Billy Gibbons, Joe Bonamassa, and Vince Gil have huge gear collections as well.
There was one picture of a an early 60's strat that still had the factory sticker on the bridge covering the hole where the whammy bar goes.
The warehouse is divided into 6 rooms, one room is stacked to the ceiling with just Fender paperwork. Technical documents, sales literature, stuff like that.

That's hilarious that Garth carded you! I first met Dave Gant when I lived in Huntington Beach California and my bud Joey Larsen took me over to his house. On the front porch was a wooden sign that said "Well shit howdy!". I felt right at home.
Then years later I bought a solid body electric violin and realized I had no idea what the tuning should be so Joey Larsen calls Dave in Nashville and puts me on the phone with him to get some advice. My sister lives next door to Vince's mom and she sold him her classic 68 Mustang when he was visiting last time. I went to school with Vince and played in his bluegrass band right about the time he left to go play with Pure Prairie League. Small fricken world, isn't it?
BTW, Vince lost a ton of guitars in that flood they had in Nashville back in 2010 I think it was.

Love Pure Prairie League, Amie is still one of my all time favorites.
Didn't Vince play with Poco for awhile as well?? After Dark Side of the Moon, Poco's Legend is my favorite album. The title track still gets the old blood pumping:

Great song!!!
Amie is a great song. If Vince played in Poco I wasn't aware of it, but then he gets around.
A little album art trivia. Funny dead guy from SNL Phil Hartman designed that Poco album cover, and cool Poco song BTW.

Did some checking and it appears I was wrong about Vince and Poco. Damn, first mistake I made all year!!!
Didn't know that about Hartman designing that album cover.
I bought a copy of Legend back in the 80's that was one of those "Half Speed Mastered" albums. Paid like almost 30 bucks for that as I recall. Have to admit though, I could tell the difference. But then again, I could have been rationalizing laying out nearly 30 bucks for an album in the 80's.

You were not hearing things. Was your album on white virgin vinyl as well? My brother-in-law had a large collection of half speed mastered albums on white vinyl, a Macintosh preamp, power amp, and I forget what speakers and those albums absolutely had better cut grooves that you could hear.

So what you're saying is, I should render my mix at half speed without preserving pitch to stereo, and then master that at full speed to allow for all the bits to fall into place and get a better sound.

Yeah, you'll get sharper ones that way. The zeros will be the same, but the sharper ones will add another level of detail to your mix!

I wonder if that's the same guy that collects famous amps. There was a 50 watt 800 left in hawaii by iron Maiden in the late 80's that ended up in his warehouse on Sand island
