Default LF-Origin [ v3.x theme ]

This is a theme that's been gathering dust on my harddrive for a very long time now. ( It's been in this "state" since before the release of Reaper3.0 )
The theme is almost finished, there's some small things such as finetuning the theme coloring (envelopes etc), all the graphics are done.

I'm kinda stuck with it som I'm letting it go public and hopefully get some suggestions for it

You are allowed to make mods but,
PLEASE DO NOT POST MODIFICATIONS IN THIS THREAD!
This thread is only made to gather suggestions on how to improve this (the original) theme. Screenshots for suggestions etc are ok to post.

Download here: Origin 1.00
I had to drop the support with all the substitute buttons, it's just too much work to update this theme with them. Sorry..

Khaki version.

Snow version.

Well, well. Another flavour of Lime . Great looking piece of work so far.

A few days ago I was experimenting with finding the right colours for the VU meters, so they don't glaringly stand out, but are still readable. Since most of your non-button interface colours are desaturated, I found that using more desaturated and darkened colours in the VU meter fit the bill better too. They're a little less mushy without the interlacing.

Some notes.

Output and Input recording modes are hard to distinguish from another on the MCP, both in Khaki and Snow.

I/O buttons contrast is a little too high. They compete with the great automation buttons you've made. I'm always whining about the automation buttons being either ugly or just too small, but they do stand out quite well. Not sure if it's the best of ideas to lower the contrast, since that matches the FX button so well. For the Khaki at least they stand out a little too much, compared to the rest of the elements. Tidbits like cursor blinking and time selection overlay are matters of taste and easily adjustable.

In all, it's very, very nice work. Lovely and clear on both ends. The Khaki theme is a great dark-room theme .

Lime - Every time I see you post a new theme, I get giddy like a little kid.

This is AWESOME! I LOVE the Khaki version. I have no improvements - it's awesome the way it is!!

I love both your design work and your thoroughness. So often I ditch even a theme I like because only the main toolbar buttons are themed. Good work Limeflavor!

Thanks a lot for this theme Limeflavour. My second favourite theme now. I did some changes to it (simply switched some images for those in add-ons folder and changed some colors and blend modes). I can put an screenshot here so you can see my changes and maybe take them into account if you're interested.

Thanks again for your time and effort.

I'll take a look at the in/output buttons.
About the IO, do you mean when mastersend is disabled or that the "ordinary" grey button has too much contrast?

I love the Snow theme but it seems to lack the nice smooth slightly 3D look of the track items the default theme has - anyway to add that back?

I meant the red I/O button when Master/Parent is on. A good indication to have, but it need not be that obvious with such bright red colour. I'll gladly change only for myself if changing that disrupts the artistic big picture too much .

This is separate file, there are several different colors to choose from in the "addons" folder.
Try them and if none works I'll add another one with more 3D look, but that's the next update...

This is a discussion we also had for the Default theme, one idea we discussed is (in this case) to keep the grey button and turn the arrow 90 degrees.
Or add a small extra symbol on the button, any ideas are welcome.
There are also substitutes for this button (yellow and blue) but they are also pretty bright.

Oh, I forgot to mention, it's

edit:
I see I've only included the "selected" state, then there might not be anything useful in that folder if you want more 3D looking mediaclips.

8 hours and NO headache = WIN!

I love this theme. Thank you very much Lime.
