Sorry for being a nuisance but when I downloaded your project and opened it in Reaper I couldn't hear any sound at all. I was told that a huge number of files were missing. Importing your aif file all I can hear is your kick drums!

Maybe you could sent it by Wetransfer!

Yes I managed to open it. All the tracks were there but no sound. When I imported the aif file, still no sound except for sound of kick drums.

I opened the sources files without any problem but these were unmixed. No fxs, for example.

Woo, second place! I only spent a day and a half mixing this time, but I thought my mix turned out really good. I think my mix and Dave's mix are both better than the official mastered release. I would appreciate detailed feedback on areas of my mix that need improvement. I agree with the criticism of my tom treatment above. I didn't spend much time on the toms and I figured it was ok, but I can hear the issue clearly in my headphones now that it's been pointed out to me.

Anyway here are my notes.

1 - Good mix. A little too much hi end and could use a little more bass, especially during the chorus. I can't put my finger on where it is exactly, but at some points during the verse it sounds like a compressor is working too hard.

2 - Too much verb and snare bottom (sounds like hitting a piece of paper). Vocals wayyyy too de-essed, like the esses and ts are completely gone. Too much shaker and tambourine.

3 - Mine

4 - Vocals are too "stapled on top" of the rest of the song. Very dry, especially during the chorus. Backing vocals appear to be missing.

5 - Good mix but poor eq balance and the snare gets lost frequently, especially in the chorus. Too much verb and too wide.

6 - Vocals too loud, backing vox appear to be missing. I hear the vocals clipping at points. The rest of the instruments are too aggressively low and highpassed, and the balance is too far toward the left speaker overall.

7 - Good mix. Acoustic guitar a little too loud, main vox a little too nasal (EQ).

8 - Good mix, a little dry and vocals a bit buried. Interesting choice to drop the guitars in the second verse.

9 - Bass is too loud, making the mix sound too tubby. Backing vox are a little too loud and eq'd to be too sibilant.

10 - Good mix. Would prefer a more natural reverb on the snare (instead of the gated reverb you've got going on). The mix lacks energy around 500 hz and sounds a bit nasal during the chorus.

11 - Mix is dominated by the bass drum and lead guitar (when it comes in). Snare, lead vox, and some guitars are also audible but most other elements are barely audible or missing.

12 - Good mix. Quite dry. Liked the effect on the background vox the first time but then it overstays its welcome.

13 - Solid mix. Instruments well separated, but the mix is too mid scooped overall. It makes it sound impressive but it doesn't sound right next to reference tracks.
