Default Easy way to mute sections on a track?

Hi everyone,

I have an interview on two tracks and the voice of each speaker goes back a little into the microphone of the other. Please, what is the easiest way to mute mic 1 when mic 2 is talking? Split and lower the level? Act on the volume curve with key points? Or is there another faster way? Thanks a lot for your help !

Totally agree with Edge, use a compressor on Mic 1 that is controlled by Mic 2's signal. You should be able to silence Mic 1 when 2 is being spoken into, without much trouble. And will have learned an extremely valuable engineering technique at the same time This is how the guy on the radio speaks over the music seemingly 'at will'.

If it doesn't happen all the time or there are times mic 1 AND 2 are active at the same time, you can use an envelope to disable (bypass) that compressor during those events and return it to use at will.

Looks a little bit complex but I'll try. Thanks for that!

That was extremely cool. Thanks. Now my dilemma is that I'm going to want to go back and tweak music that has already been published.
