Looking for Amp sim plugin suggestion
I was wondering if I could get some pointers from those of you who use non high gain amp sim plugins?
I am specifically looking for a Marshall 1959/1987 plugin. Or one modeled after either of those two amps. I’m talking similar touch sensitivity as well as their balls out crunch. I’m tired of playing the high gain wasps in a tin can tone of High gain modelers. I want to go back to basics and bash a NMV front end to get my high gain crunch.
So any suggestions? I want both paid and free suggestions.
Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the specific Marshall models you mention, but I play Amplitube specifically for the touch and volume response. I can go from almost clean to pretty damn crunchy with the volume knob, when I slap it it squeals, when I pet it it purrs, it plays and sounds different in an appropriate way at varying input levels. I do think other mfrs do super high gain better, but I haven't heard anyone do that kind of live playing response as well. Check out the Greg Koch demos. There's a free version. YMMV.

Not a guitarist, but I've read extremely good comments about the DiBiQuadro Saturn, (just released). It's "just" the preamp though, but it seems to sound fantastic with just any amp sim and cab IR.

Have you tried the amp sims built into Reaper? Convolution Amp/Cab Modeler and Convolution Dual Amp Modeler?
IK Media are offering a free simulator to registered users at the moment, I think. Maybe a metal amp though.
I was quite please using a Behringer GDI before my interface.

For a free option, it's an antique by VST standards, but the SimulAnalog JCM900 does a good Marshall crunch, IMHO. It might only be 32 bit, it's so old.
https://www.simulanalog.org/guitarsuite.htm
There's also the HyBrit amp head by LePou - it says it's modelling "British" amps, but not a specific one:

I use IR files loaed into ReaVerb. The sound is as good as the IR.
I load a file for the amp sim, followed by one for the cab sim.

Sorry guys I should have been more specific. The Marshall I’m looking for is the Non Master Volume (Plexi) type amp sim. I have about three Marshall variants but they are all Jcm800 types.
High gain amp sims I finally fingered out today on taming the garbage they all have. So what I have is usable right now.
Still want that classic crunch of a Marshall though.

As someone else mentioned, I would also recommend Amplitube, especially being able to get an expansion for it for free (that includes a JMP100 and some vintage marshall cabs) https://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/in...id=atmetalfree [they seem to do similar giveaways once or twice a year, so it's worth sticking with it and seeing if you can pick up any cool stuff for free]. There is a JTM100 Super Lead that you can buy, but as I already have it, I'm not sure how much extra it costs.
For completely free stuff, there's this, although I'm not sure if it qualifies as a plexi or not: https://www.audiority.com/shop/l12x-...ate-amplifier/

Followed up on those model numbers, cuz I'm a tone nerd. Dunno if you found what you're after, but thought I'd post what I found.
AT has models specifically for both of those AFAIK. There's a "S100" (1959) model, but this is V2 I think and not so advanced, though it still sounds pretty good and is easier to play. Reminds me of the old Amp Farm models, which sounded a bit small but fit in a mix real nice and easy. There's a "JH Gold" (JTM45 v. 1987) which is from their Hendrix package, but redone with their more advanced modeling. Has the 1987 model Normal and Hi channels and channel bridging if you like. Dimed it out, sounds cool, def would call it a classic Marshall kinda sound. Lots of touch and volume sensitivity, you can definitely for instance back your volume off a bit, set up your rhythm tone, and wind it up for a lead tone.
Bonus joker in the pack, there's a "Red Pig" Marshall Major (1967) sim, this was a 200 watt Plexi for when 100w was just not enough. Normal and Bright channels and bridging if you like. To me sounds like you'd expect, kinda a super or a touch more modern Plexi, I could really hear the extra headroom so ended up driving it harder, great for solo tones but not as versatile or sensitive tone variation wise to me.
Well that was fun, hope you find something you like!

I’m still looking. I will look at the AT stuff. I also happened to check out the Neural DSP Nameless amp sim. While it’s based off the custom Fortin amps made for Meshuggah, it sounded phenomenal. I wasn’t like using a plugin with the typical issues of plugin amp sims. It behaved and sounded like a real amplifier. While I can’t see spending $99 on a guitar plugin right now, it is well worth the money.
I also think Kuassa has something similar to what I’m looking for as well. Marshall Major eh? Those amps were freakishly loud. They called them pigs because they ate tubes like pigs. The amps were just this side of stable was the reason.

Since I do not like amp plugins a lot, I prefer Boss Roland gear. But Le Pou makes nice plugins. They have about 6 free amps.
Softube has just released 1959 plexi and some more Marshall amps, but I do not like their amps, their cabs are great, though

From my tests, STL TonheHub and Neural DSP ones are the best for me... But most of those have free trials, so you can test them!

On sale, sounds great: https://www.softube.com/amp-room
I love AmpliTube as well and they have some nice Marshall emulations, though the included speaker impulses are not the best imo.

I think I found one that works well and sounds passable. Best of all it is freeware. Analog Obsession’s JAmp. JTM45 clone in a stomp pedal looking GUI. I only mucked with it earlier today like 5 minutes and it was able to mimic the touch sensitivity the NMV Marshall’s have. Which works fairly well for me as I have a very heavy picking hand so when I play I somewhat always induce clipping anyways. I’ll play around some tomorrow and investigate further.
FWIW the guys plugins are fairly top notch. The drawback is most are modeled after some form of analog gear so there isn’t any ice noticed that are transparent, but the coloration they add is pleasing. They are all freeware 64 bit plugins.

I am addicted to this plugin, two hours later and the perfect tones saved as presets.
Love it so much
